Call me fat

So before his family abandons him in Aryn Varrick did actually stand up for himself against his brothers once. I picture all three of them doing some Warden training, and one of his brothers just pushing a few too many buttons. I drew in Alcatraz because he's a Warden and might be doing some of their training. Right now he is realizing that this scuffle is quickly turning into a real fight and is moving in to break it up. This was drawn a while ago, before I was REALLY able to capture Varrick's bear like physic, so he looks a little thinner in this picture. But I assure you he is a fat pudgy little ball of fluff, with some teeth thrown in for good measure.

I still love this image! The layout is soo cool and well done, it brings so much energy to the image! The only thing I see is that I'm not getting the fierceness out of Verricks expression that I would expect him to have in the moment. His eye looks a bit empty to me if that makes sense and I feel like his gaze would be locked onto his brother as the target of his rage. Everything else looks dynamite though! I like how his brother looks surprised. It helps emphasize how uncharacteristic this is for him. Great job!

Oh no! Traz'll straighten things out! XD
This angle is really spectacular, so much energy! Varrick will be quite the fighter when he's older, I bet!

Wow I am loving the angle you used!! Such a unique and different perspective on the scene! It really portrays the situation well. Especially the pose of the wolf under Varrick is a really difficult one, but you have done a great job getting his "aaahhh get off me!" pose and expression down. This came out amazingly!

And thank you so much for including Alcatraz!! He is so awesome and fierce in your style! Don't worry, he'll get this straightened out! xD

I still want to rp with you!

Varrick is a cute and chubby pup and all, but I can see him being a wolf to be reckoned with when he's older, especially if he learns how to throw his weight around xP I love this! Really cool angle =)

thats def the direction im gonna try going for with him. get him a lil warden training, and a bit of a back bone then send him off into the world.

Well done! Big bad teacher Alcatraz will set the boys straight lol how do you get the camera to focus on the front while blurring the back? I tried that recently, not sure how to go about which method. It may be a program problem

I have each character on a different flat layer (keeping the original layers together but hidden) duplicate that layer so there are 2 of each. On the back layer i blur it considerably by going to filter/blur/gaussian blur. on the front layer I apply a mask by clicking the little  circle in a box icon on the layer pannel. This allows me to take away and add back as needed through the use of white black and grayscale values. that part is sorta hard to explain, but basicly it means i can custom blur each part of the character as much or as little as i want in a controlled way. i also do this for backgrounds, though more often its just using the gaussian blur. hope that helps. =]

Ah yeah it's a program thing, I don't have PSD or Sai, I use Gimp. And I can only do so much with layers lol I don't have the ability to blur large scale because my blur tool on layers isn't meant to do something like that. But thanks for explaining! Maybe I can figure out an alternative

Go Varrick go! The perspective in this is unreal. I love the lighting on them fighting too!

Alcatraz looks like a total BAMF.

I totally get that, I catch myself using the same poses and compositions for multiple characters
