My Bio

My name is Dan Davis, I am a bladesmith, swordsmith and blacksmith. I have been doing this since I was a young man; I'm not so young anymore but still cranking things out occasionally.

More recently I was associated with a company called Wild Wolf Forge, LLC but I parted ways with them in August of 2009. I bear them no ill will; I simply needed to move on. I mention this because they also have a profile on DA and although they have not used it in a long while you may occasionally run across the same blades on both sites. No one is stealing anything, I made the blades and they have them is all.

Current Residence: Garland, Texas USA

Yes, I am headmaster of a singular and individual Japanese martial art: Kotaro no kami Yagyu Hirakawa ryu Kenjutsu.I have trained students along the Pacific rim; I have trained Japanes...

So what makes art good? I submit to you that good art is art which both provokes the thought and evokes the emotion intended by the artist.Consider the famous (infamous) blank canvas that hung in the New York Met (and may yet hang there) - the most common thought it provokes is "What the hell is this?" and the most common emotion it evokes would be mild annoyance. IS this art? Well, it is a canvas painted completely white in order to represent (waaait for itttt!!!): a blank canvas. So, it IS a representation of a thing and we have already said it provokes and evokes, so that makes it art.But is it good art? Based on the overblown artist st...
