War Spirit

By davinci3835
I have always been into the Native American art and culture. From reading "Black Elk" a Sioux Holy Man, to making war shirts, fully beaded moccasins, chokers breastplates and fully functional peacepipes. This painting is of an actual tomahawk I made. I try to stay very taditional and authentic in style and items used in the making. Such as; I use no plastic beads or fake leather. This Tomahawk sold for $250.

in the painting, I wanted the background to stay very loose and impressionistic while allowing the tomahawk itself to have great detail, pulling it out from teh painting. I ised teh same principal in the painting "Ashley's Dream" (The ballet slippers against a chartruese background.)

This peace really escapes the value of the Native American, war spirte, I love how you, as you said, kept it loose, in the painting that really is shown in geourgiouse detail and prosective. The beads and feathers shown as a sway is fantastic putting in the real emotion that the tamahawk was made and the tightness of the beads on the string is detaild well I also love the space persition you put between the decorations on the tomahawk and the detailing of the feathers is so so nicely done. I like how you show your intrests in your Work, I have yet to really bring out my love for the Japanese, doing Sumi-E- paintings, which is a hard type of painting to peruse and do currectling in troditional terms useing a stone block, water and a stick of Ink, you really did a number with this, very lovely-Midori :orange:
