Warhammer:Invasion Steamtank

This got shown on the FFG website today.
My first Warhammer Invasion card, for the Morrslieb-cycle

I think I painted this one about...almost a year ago. Somewhere in spring 2010.

Anyways, The article is here:

The image shown here is somewhat bigger then on the card, but nowhere close to as big as the original.
It gets a bitt blurry at those sizes...

Enjoy.

"Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. Badass... But I was hoping it was the Redeemer's ride!

Have you drawn him too?
TerrylovesBoobs's avatar
Did they ever make any more of him, beyond that awesome graphic novel? He's my absolutely favourite psychotic maniac!
DavidSondered's avatar
I actually do not know, I never read the first one *shame*.
TerrylovesBoobs's avatar
You missed out on his flaming brazier hat, pimping crazy goatee, giant chainsaw, dosing up his minions with probably fatal levels of slaught, most imaginative tortures, and enormously purging kill count? You must draw him!
DavidSondered's avatar
I'll draw him when/if I get commissioned to do so. Unfortunately I really dont have much time to do other 40k or Warhammer FB illustrations unless they are commissioned nowadays...
TerrylovesBoobs's avatar
What are you so busy drawing lots of instead? I would imagine such lavishly detailed pictures take rather a long time.
DavidSondered's avatar
I have thos images I can show immediately (usually private commissions st in 40k) and I have those I cannot show (freelance contracts, with Non-disclosure agreements that keep me from showing or even naming anything about it until a specific time).
;)

Longest I had to wait so far is...5 Years and counting...

If only they had more of these armour plated babies.....
DavidSondered's avatar
indeed, but I think they are a bit wary of it, seeing what the Skaven could do if they stole one or two of them... the more there are to steal, the bigger the chance it might happen!

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the chances of one being stolen by the Skaven and scrapped for a steam powered Warpstone death-ray: still a few more tanks could always help during the next Storm of Chaos!

Wow! Really good work. I like it! :)

Cheers, I kinda like also. There are some tings I'd do different if commissioned it today, but still.. :)

DavidSondered's avatar
It's the angle... I worked with a miniature as ref though... thy seem quite small-ish.

Cheers!

Great to see some Fantasy stuff from you mate! :D

Nice job. :+fav:
DavidSondered's avatar
Yeah, mostly I only do work nowadays, so when something fantasy pops up...it's more or less guaranteed to have come from work-related things... :)
StugMeister's avatar
Good stuff either way sir! ;)

sdo awesome, great contrast with the smoky background and then the bright connonburst in the foregroundand the stark high lights and shadows surrounding the lightsource are also very well done :)

thanks. This long after I see mostly errors I'd like to fix. But I improve all the time so hopefully you'll see even better images from me in the future :)
