Gingerbread Carosel 2

So every year for the last few years I've tried to get a gingerbread house done for christmas. This year I amped up my project size. The carosel was made from about 46 pieces of gingerbread, all glued together with royal icing. EVERYTHING is completely edible. I mounted it on a lazy susan I use for decorating cakes so it spins freely. All the stencils were made by me from scratch. Well, EVERYTHING on it was made by me from scratch.

This is ridiculously intense, I do't know how you did it!! It looks just fantastic! I'm a total sucker for carousels and things like it, and I'm in a gingerbread decor mood this Christmas, so this really hits the spot. Fantastic work. I especially like the icicles hanging down, fantastic touch!

yay! carusel! you know this'd be fun ta make with my friends son when im babysitting him for her this weekend =) aprox 46 pcs of gingerbread, and if ive got it right, 24 candy canes, 9 jelly tops, 8 pcs of wine gum, raspberry licorice laces, silver pellets, and a ton of patience ;) how long did you leave the base in the oven? and on what heat?

Gosh, I really admire you for all the hours of work you must've put into this. I'm curious though. What did you do with it afterwards?

lol, well honestly, the whole thing was so thick for stability, we couldn't eat it at all. So instead, it stayed on my work bench for about 5 months before I threw it out.

Thanks! Funny thing is that I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it until recently. Thats the good thing about gingerbread, is that is just gets really hard when its stale, not rotten.
