Very "Mass Effect" - I love it. I'm not in any way trying to imply theft of ideas, it's just that the design makes me think of some places I've been in those games (and I do love me some Mass Effect so it's a compliment, I swear!).

Reminds me of dead space. If you consider this generic, I'm curious to know what something not generic would be, because it'd likely be super godlike.

Also what would constitute "not generic" in your terms?

I thought it was painted, but it's 3D, more cool than I expected :)

Thank you, not long i guess. I got my first job as an environment artist last year and i'd never touched UDK or maya before that. You can learn the basics very quickly and it's quite a simple engine once you know your way around

I didn't look at any Dead Space ref when making this so i would say "copied" is a little strong. Dead Space is pretty generic looking in itself, you can make anything grungy, industrial, in space and it would probably look a little like Dead Space since that's all Dead Space is. The holograms were unintentional but yes they are very Dead Space.

I guess so but why not try and make something different then? Just recycling ideas that have already been done is a little lazy? Not saying it isn't great. Just needs something a tad different.

You do realize absolutely nothing is completely pure? As in, everything is a slightly different rendition of something else, so everything's recycled?

Saying "do something totally different" is asking too much, especially if it's each time.

Not trying to cause a fight, but simply throwing it out there.

I know I know. Everything is inspired. But surely creating something detail for detail could be improved on? For example the doors look like you have literally copy and pasted the render from Dead Space.

Hmmm, I can see where you are going with what you are saying. If you worded differently I may not have pestered you, but alas...

Trying to differentiate it may help, although there are those odd times where something bears an uncanny resemblance to something else, even if it was unintentional. XD

I'm taking a course in Maya modelling, and its really difficult.
Looks very, very good! : D

I do agree that some dust particles would enhance the mood of this a lot.

I've been using maya for a year and a half now. I used Max for a good few years before that and the transition was a little tricky. Once you get used to it though the workflow is great
