I use a mixture of acrylic paints. I use some Liquitex Premire, as well as the large store brand tubes. I also like to use the cheap bottles of craft acrylic paints.

The craft acrylics usually no more than $3 each, and if you get a sale you can get them for under a dollar. Brands for these include Folk Art, Apple Bloom, Americana and Plaid.

If you use them, I do suggest mixing them with some acrylic fluid medium, this helps give the paint a little bit of durability when dry and makes it feel more like other acrylic paints. Do be warned the fluid medium does thin the paint out (kind of like if you add water) so you may need an extra coat or two. A good brand for the acrylic fluid medium is Golden. This can be a bit pricy, but a little can go a long way.

If you have any other questions, let me know!

Love the paint. I'm working on something similar but just can't figure out the paint. I'm more of a sculptor than painter.

Nice!! I just layered a few paints and mixed things up a bit. For texture I used a sponge, a dry tip of my brush, and I also watered down some paints and flicked the bristles of the brush to splatter it. I would try practicing on a piece of paper or card board before painting the actual item.
