What's sad is that these characters were barely seen in the film, not to mention all the work into the animatronic suits

Thats very true. We did 2 sets of reshoots on these guys once on location in Philly and a second time shooting wire rig gags on a soundstage at ILM.
M Night still cut almost all of it, and we had some great footage that i think would've made the film a little better.

I know that stuff like that happens, but still it is an awesome design, not to mention the incredible talent at Spectral Motion.

The detail is really intricate. It has so much movement for a still object, in the way the tendrils are arranged. I especially love the top of the head. It must have taken ages! ( Thanks for sharing your work here. I don't watch alot of films so I probably wouldn't have seen it. )

Very inspiring. I remember this branch ape from the movie. It's incredible that you managed to pull this out from a regular sculpture, I could have sworn it would have been done on the computer.
