This will teach me not to multitask. The last sentence should have read: He ceased to be a character defending just the US decades ago, but it is his belief in Truth, Justice, AND the American Way that has made him someone willing to sacrifice himself in order to defend the world and mankind's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Thanks for your comments Joe, and to all who have responded. I can not tell you how proud I am to live in the greatest country on this planet. Even with things going as they are we still have the freedom to speak our minds as we see fit. We can pursue our beliefs without persecution ( except for the small minded idiots that think otherwise). And we have brave men and women who are not afraid to stand on the walls guarding our home and our freedom everyday, proud to be America's Finest, without the scale of thanks they truely deserve. They are in the forefront of those that allow us to have the freedoms so clearly defined in the Constitution of the United States, and to that end, the freedom to beleive in Truth , Justice and the American Way. I just read your comments on Superman. I can only second ~Sixus1's comments. The US is not perfect, but the ideal, the intent of the United States as outlined in our founding documents is something worthy of reaching for and aspiring to, and that is what Superman has always stood for. He ceased to be a character defending just the US decades ago, but it is his belief in Truth, Justice AND the American Way that has made him someone willing to sacrifice himself to defend the world and the right mankind to life, property, and the pursuit of happiness.
