"Oh Yay! Bodies!" - Rifftrax doing 300
Also I wasn't feeling all that good today, and I figured out why. Stan Lee died today. I'm not a big fan of his work, but it hurts when a fellow cartoonist dies. Almost like a Jedi sense. So forgive me if I'm off right now. Feeling like a family member is gone.
So how I would draw cartoon human people. Yes I'm using Adult Mabel to demonstrate the adult female body. I was in the mood to doodle her today. I give no shits for age canon. Deal with it. And the dude is basically human Sunflower. An original. But why not Dipper? Pfft who's the artist here and Sunflower is pretty much the same by appearance in hair color. At least they're in generic simple form right now. They're no more naked than mannequins here so no mature filter. I'm just going to talk about body form on this one and fully developed bodies. We're just talking cartoon, but will also get into some real biology. I did learn how do draw real people a little to do this.
The human body, a complex machine of biology. It's pretty bare bone and simple compare to the rest of the animal kingdom. Why do we call that a "kingdom" anyway? Whatever. But humans do have one thing all animals lack and is super robust in. An imagination. You know what I used to make this doodle. It's the oldest and most important tool to the humans. We'd be no different without it.
Back to the human body. To draw kids, it's pretty generic no matter male or female. They're pretty unisex before puberty. But once puberty sets in, we start to see the gender differences. Male and female humans do have different features in their body structure from the obvious to the hidden.
With ladies first, the female body form. Female humans have more simple muscle structure. Not that they're weaker mind you, but their muscles are less complex than male especially in the upper body. Their chest cavities and rib cages would be more narrow than male by some degree. And they have that special feature in the chest called breasts. Males have breasts too, but ours don't function. But! there are freak cases where males do get functional breasts too usually by a hormone imbalance. Women breasts would sag from side to side facing outward when completely exposed. Bigger breasts tend to take up much of the chest while smaller ones leave the middle bare and take up the sides of the upper torso. If ever drawing elderly, that part can get interesting. When female breasts interact with anything, think thick plastic water sack in a way. Now the lower body is where we separate the girls from the boys. Girls have much more wider hips with a wider pelvis bone for you know child baring. So from top to bottom of the torso, think hourglass in a way but not too literal. The crotch area would just curve down like a slide because that area is just a slot when getting more detailed. The bottom curves more like a asymmetrical hill on the side and often would make a cartoon heart shape when in full view. If you can draw cartoon hearts, you can draw cartoon butts. From there legs are fairly the same as male legs, but the thy muscles are more thicker than male with the wider hips. That's pretty much female doodling.
Now males. Their muscle structure is more detailed than female. Mostly in the upper body like around the shoulders, back, chest, lower sides, and abs. Again this does not mean they are stronger necessarily, but when a male pumps up they do look more detailed in muscle structure than females. The overall upper torso is more wider than female. Their chests are normally flat and more broad. This is more thinner males. Fatter ones do get a set of nice man boobs that do look female almost. But the nipple placement is roughly the same as female. The lower body is slimmer than female as males don't normally bare children there. Male asses would be less round and more like two squishy bricks. And the crotch would have a more bump in the road because that's where the meat and potatoes are. For the overall male body, think upside down triangle. Wide on top, but things get slimmer as you work down. That's pretty much a male body structure.
Everything else is up to the artist like size and such. I'm not into bloated body parts like breasts 10x bigger than the body or penises long and think enough to be a small tree. Not into that. I prefer realistic enough body structure. I know why don't I draw realism then? Well art is more complicated than that.
Had to correct a few things, but here's one more thing I forgot. The best way to learn how to draw the human body is to draw the human body. What I mean is seeing a real human body and draw that. Most artists would say the same. There maybe figure drawing classes at your local community, state, or art college where they would hire models to pose naked for students to practice doodling the body. And hay there's practical use for porn. Draw from porn! They are naked already, so stop that other thing for a time and get to doodling. And if you want to get into mature art, live action porn is your best bet.
And people don't have to be naked. You can just find some unsuspecting random in public and doodle them while they're oblivious to you. Good way to practice cloths drawing too. Some artists like myself would do this plenty of times. But be aware, they may not like that if caught...or love it. People are complicated
Just practice drawing the real thing enough until it comes natural in your cartooning no matter a good day or bad like today for me. This is why I'm the wizard of art. I had to study and work my ass off to be able to doodle something. Her ass is literally off too. XD
