A World of Vampires: Lilith

These illustrations are part of a series of commissions I've been doing for a friend of mine. She discovered that every culture in the world has some sort of Vampire-creature legend, telling of beings or spirits who suck the blood or life energy of the living. So, she decided to write a series of novellas, each one featuring a different culture's vampire in a different location around the world.

This story features Lilith, a legendary figure if there ever was one. Her identity and nature vary from culture to culture, who see her alternatively as a demon, an evil spirit, a rebellious angel, or Adam's first wife in the Book of Genesis who was exiled from God's garden of Eden. The story follows a young Crusader in 11th century Jerusalem, who hears a mysterious disembodied voice in the night and decides to investigate its source.
