White Picket Bars
They chained me to a stove, tied a knife to my hand and cutting board to the other, and put cement under my toes and told me not to move. They built a pretty house around me and surrounded it with white picket bars that glistened in the sunlight.  As a cruel joke made the roof out of glass; thinking that I would feel free whenever I looked up. But I was getting tired of breathing in the cherry pie toxins and chopping veggies for men to choke on. Society thought they could trick me into thinking that my place was the kitchen and well-behaved children were my destiny. My hands itched to break something. I used the knife they gave me and cut off my skirt and chipped away the block that held me back.

Wednesday
Midweek casualties take their revenge
Knowing what's ahead
Tattered and torn I approach
Barefooted warrior, pressing the clutch
Shifting the task from one foot to the other
With hesitation, I relax
Clutch, second, third, gas
The Amanda reves no longer
A purr of satisfaction
Washes over the chaos of motion.
No longer a warrior; but a scholar
Becoming fluent in the langue of Amanda
She is no longer a beast
But a bullet
No: an extension of me
We are one
Warrior and Beast
Scholar and Amanda.

Feeding Time
We're all to distracted by the new iPhones, and Air Jordans to see the real problems. The lines wrapped around department store buildings all the while white hands wrap around black throats dragging them to the slaughterhouse. The system we created is surely underrated, with its constant need to be fed fathers of boys who will turn into the same men their fathers were before them. It's not the slice of the knife on innocent throats that hurts the most. It's the acid slurs formed by common words that dig into the skin and break you from within.
Oh did you hear the bell?
Its feeding time, another man being dragged into a life-sucking cell for it was the life of crime he pursued because they broke his wings in primary school. Or maybe he was lucky, but only cause he could run faster from his demon on piles of asphalt and plastic green turf. They never taught him the numbers, just plays, whispering behind his back, "You might be dumb but you're sure as hell fast." Fast enough to outrun the

A Lady's Perfume
She used the melancholy crystals that fell from her years to scratch how many days she had laid in her glass coffin. She wasn't dead just suffocating for all the world to.The smell of roses stung her nose and clung to her lungs like a sticky band-aid; making ever exhale sickly sweet and innocent. The commercialized floral sensation made men lose their patience. Buried in lustful eyes, the same eyes she despised. For it was they who stripped her of her thought collection and replace them with a vast nail polish selection and blush. Legs wrapped in nylon keeping her trapped in their himosphere. Golden charm bracelets acted like chains holding a goddess from her reign. Red lips curse her to spoke in a lover's whisper. All the while diamonds crystallize on her neck keeping her from breaking the rosy toxins that held her there. Her fate sealed by broken heels and empty ambition of the female mission. But it was only a lady's perfume.

Tears of a Mockingbird
A little bird
Sat on the windowpane
Heard a signing call
And deiced to do the same
She called out
And someone answered
Her little Blue Jays call
Another day another branch
And another song
The little bird called out
Singing the same song
As the Robin flying about
It filled her with joy
Knowing someone
Called back
So the next day she did the same
Hoping this time
They'd call her by name
But they never did
For she sang in a Carny's voice
Lost in her own words
The poor little bird
Never seemed to be hard
Forever to be a little mockingbird.

What shows love...
Rose might be red
A violets might be
But they don't show how much I really love you
Candy might me sweet
And kisses might me neat
But they don't tell me how much you really love me
Little stupid thing that warm the heart
And gifts beyond their value in vanity
That's what shows the love between you and me

Ombre
Walking into school today I saw a girl with dyed hair. It was the fact the color wasn't what caught my eye; it was the ombre. Her hair was naturally black; you could tell from the color of her eyebrows. About mid ear the ombre started. It started at a dark green and gradually turned a pleasant teal by the time you reached the ends of her hair.
Her hair reminded me of the gradual fall we call life. Like her hair we all start in a dark place; insure and knowing. But as time goes by things begin to lighten. The older we get the more we know. The more we know the better we understand. The more we understand the less we are in darkness.

Death to...
Death to... By Kamryn J. Jenkins
Death to the man with the stick and the cuffs
Gun on his thigh to control us
Death to the injustice
Death to the pain
Death to those who don't demand change
Death to society that holds us back
Just because our skin is black
Death to those who say religion destroys
When it's really big guns and little boys
Death to the system that doesn't protect
Death to those who won't face the facts
Death to the tears that mothers cry
Death to the kills in the night
Death to the world if it doesn't change
Let it be spoken and let it be heard.

Wednesday
I was told to write a piece about a part of my day, so I wrote about driving. A couple of months ago it was daunting task, now its something I actually kinda of like doing.

I'm to young to be hear and to old not to know better. Life revolves around grade and social networks. But I live for the unexpected moments, good sappy romance novels, comfortable sweatpants, a good action movie here and there and a nice cup of Earl Grey tea.
