Animorphs - A Group Photo by DarkwolfUntamed Animorphs - A Group Photo by DarkwolfUntamed
I've been wanting an Animorphs desktop background for awhile now. But I didn't like any of the ones the original site provided. So I went searching through my extensive collection of animal photos (mostly usually used for reference for my artwork) and picked out the battle morphs.

Jake - Siberian Tiger
Marco - Gorilla
Tobias - Red-Tailed Hawk
Rachel - Grizzly Bear
Cassie - Grey Wolf

<Know the secret... We're still out there.>
<Together we fight.>

I love it. Not only is it awesome, the expressions on the animals are appropriate to everyone's personalities.
Rachel is saying "talk to the hand" or waving "hello", oh I'm sorry, <talk to the hand> or <hello>
Jake is alert and concerned in a hard but calm way, like <wtf...noooooo...nooooo...not again...I'll get it>
Cassie is alert in a more excited but softer way. <did one of my animals get out of it's cage and poop in Rachel's mom's car?>
Marco is giving Rachel a look. Prolly making a comment on her gaining weight. We'll just use our imagination on that. 'Nuff said.
Tobias is just sitting there, by himself, being a loner, while everybody else think's he's floofy.

One nation, under God (under SOMEthing*), with liberty and morphing powers for all.
*After meeting the Ellimist, they know something's out there. It has to be, if the all these aliens and people like the Ellimist are just the tip of the Iceberg. I think Jake and Rachel are Jewish, I wonder how their beliefs take this. The animorphs can't go tell their respective religious leaders or therapists, cuz well. you know. So they just go on being confused and crazy.

This is actually pretty good. Would have been neat if you'd had a forest background or something similar.

When I did this, I wasn't that good of a photomanipulator. I should probably remake it.

Really does, doesn't it. :) I still think about it and reread books all the time.. All except for the last one, of course.

I LOVE your avatar, btw. It's really nice.

Man, that last book was disappointing! I don't know what KAA was thinking. I think she should have stoped just as Jake says 'and like that, the war was over...' or whatever it is. Glad you like my avatar, thanks! :D

I don't think she should've stopped there... It would've felt like too much of a cut off. The other books have a rounded out ending. Honestly, I'm always going to be mad that she killed Rachel. I kept thinking that if she'd morphed her ELEPHANT, instead of the bear, the Rattlesnake couldn't have poisoned her badly enough that she'd have to morph back before flattening all the morphed controllers on that bridge, Tom included. When it came down to it, I almost feel like taking the bear at that moment was out of character. Sure, it was faithful and an old friend, as she put it, but the Elephant would've been a better choice of weapon...

Not that I've spent week- Uh, hours... thinking about this or anything. *sheepish*

<Whistle while you work. tra la la la laaa. This is Snow White trapped as a talking Cricket. LISTEN TO ME. Don't go over two hours! Don't morph drunk or on sleeping pills! Don't eat apples given to you by sinister old ladies...or snakes...>

it would be cool if you found an image of Ax and put him in too.

I tried that, actually, but unfortunately, all the pictures of Ax look like drawings. And drawings when put next to real animals don't look right. :( So I had to leave it as the human members alone.

Nice! I especially like the placement of the characters. But if you can, you might want to make those edges softer on the different images. :D

Vive la Animorphs!

Yeah, ironically, I just learned how to do that... so I guess we're learning in opposite directions. :) Just keep playin' around, you'll figure stuff out.

I wish I could. *shrugs* I wouldn't know where to begin. I'm still a rookie at cutting and pasting things... It was hard enough not getting any of the original backgrounds in the picture.

Actually, the series ran for two and a half seasons. Twenty four episodes. Unfortunately, only eight of those episodes survive on VHS. It's sad, really... If they'd stuck to the books rather than going off on their own, the show would've been picked up by more fans.

What I gather is that the people making it wanted it to be better, and we had some good actors, but the people funding it underestimated how dark and scary it could be, and underfunded it, thinking it would be a more kid friendly goosebumps/power rangers.
There's this guy on Youtube called Poparena. He reviews books, games, and the shows. He's good. Real good. He actually called the guy making it, who said he regretted not being able to go in that direction. That initially upbeat then darker tone with visceral action and morally "gray gut punch moments". So, like a lot of things in America, if it's not R rated Horror or G rated Disney, it usually get's turned into either of the two, not be who it's aimed at. They didn't have the money or sets, and animating it might have been more expensive back then. The director said the young actors were some of the nicest, funnest people he worked with, though. Most people agree the actors were decent choices and tried hard.
 If they really wanted to do Animorphs justice, it would be a prime time show AT least. Somewhere between DC's Young Justice and something on Adult Swim like Bleach or Full Metal Alchemist.
Animorphs would have made a GREAT anime, if the people knew what they were doing. Highschool, powers, violence, it has the outline of most animes that come from light novels, but fill in the gaps with where western tv gets it better. A lot of animes were initially light novels, and Animorphs is in numerous light novel formats.
If it were anime, I would choose the animation style and tone between Bleach (for approachable highschool setting/teen personalities initially) and Hellsing Ultimate (for the darker guerilla warefare aspect). If it was anything like that, mixed with Full Metal Alchemists action, plot, pacing, not being shy about Gore, and Ghost in the Shell's good use of art, tone, and CG in fights. If western included, throw in Young Justice.
If it was live action: Red Dawn + Homeward Bound (sassy and chance arguing = Rachel and Marco) + the "V" series/miniseries (80s show about flesh eating reptile aliens, got a reboot recently, small group of human insurgents resisting them)

:) Great to find another fan! I have almost all of them... I recently discovered (while attempting to reread the entire series from the beginning) that I'm missing about half of the thirties... Which is annoying. I have to go to the library now, and hope they're still on the shelves after two years. =/

The sections in my library move around a lot. I know where they USED To keep them, but I don't know where they might be NOW... that's 'what'. :)
