The Above the Clouds campaign is now live!

This project is 5 years in the making and I couldn't have gotten here without you. Thank you! Can never say that enough. I am so grateful for all the support ATC has been given and I can't wait to deliver a beautiful book into your hands.

The first day is super important for all campaigns, a good launch means it will be more easily seen! More eyes means we are closer to making this book REAL! AHH! Even sharing this page makes a huge difference!

And for those who are early adopters, an early bird tier has been added just for you.

Let's do this!

I'm excited to finally announce the Kickstarter will launch Tuesday, 8 AM on September 4th.
So mark your calendars!

SPECS: So far it looks like the book is shaping up to be 268+ pages with a funding goal of $12,000.
Why your help is essential: The number of pledges (even $1) on the first day of the launch will be crucial to making sure this project is seen on Kickstarter. More eyes means we are closer to making ATC a real book!

Thank you so much for supporting. I can't wait to deliver a beautiful book into your hands.

all the best,

Hey friends, I made a page dedicated to the future launch of an Above the Clouds Kickstarter!

A mailing list is forming for those who want to be in the know of when it goes live.
You can find it over here:

Hey! Happy New Years!

The last day of 2016 seems like the right day to do some reflecting. For those who have stayed with me since 2013, holy cow you have a lot of patience (and you are going to like what I am going to announce below), and to those of you who have joined the journey along the way, thank you. I really can't say it enough, thank you! I am profoundly grateful for you being here with me.

Since starting in 2013, you can see Eily and Cian have changed along the way.  It's crazy to think that I've been on this project for 4 years.

There have been a lot of struggles along the way and sometimes the only thing that made sense was making sure that Monday's update went up on time.

When sitting down to look over the past year and where I wanted to go in 2017...

I broke down my current page rate and how many weeks it would take to finish 2 chapters. And it’s scary, really scary to see the end in sight of something that has been my sole focus for 4 years. If I keep to 2 pages completed a week (at the minimum), we are looking at the end of Above the Clouds in about 6 months.

6 months. Feel free to scream with me in delight.

So here is one of my goals for 2017:
1. Finish drawing Above the Clouds by the end of June.

Ready for January?

ART DOLL Quarterly - Tulah

Journal Entry: Sun May 1, 2011, 11:18 PM

Some time after creating Tulah, I decided to be brave and send off photos to the magazine ART DOLL Quarterly.

Tulah - elf sculpture by DarkSunRose

Her story can be found here:…
Recently found out that she will be appearing in the May issue!

It has always been one of those magazines I loved to look through while in the bookstore, wanting to see all the inspirational artwork and stories from artist I admired. "These are the people who are doing what I want to do" I always thought.

For once, as I held a copy of the magazine, I looked for their submission policies and got to work with putting together what was needed. I had to be quick because it was literally the last week to send in work for consideration. I rush to the post office and realized I needed to do a rush delivery, having to spend $20+. I hesitated for a moment when I was standing to pay for it - but my mind kept going "But what if it does get in?" Don't stop!

Many months went by and I started to believe that it may not have been received in time. "At least I went for it!" I decided. So I pushed it in the back of my mind.

Today, as I was working from home, I heard the mail drop in and went to go see what came in. My heart stopped because it was a copy of ART DOLL with a note attached that said I was published.

I held that magazine and I did one serious Happy Dance.

It went from being the one who only browsed the artist magazines to finally being a part of it. It makes me want to shout to all artist that you shouldn't just keep "looking", decide and then go for it!

Supporting a good band

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 13, 2011, 8:05 PM

A while back I designed a cover for the band The New Orleans Moonshiners.

Moonshiners - I'm Comin Home by DarkSunRose

and now I have a chance to help support them in their NOMINATION! WOoooo! They have been nominated for "Best Traditional Jazz Album" of the year. I can't think of a better group of musicians - who work hard, laugh hard, creating magic.

Take a few moments check out Best of the Beat Awards and if you feel so incline, participate.…

Working on a sexy art piece, well as sexy as this prudish artist gets. And I'll be having my buttons available sometime this month!

Album Cover sketches

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 28, 2010, 10:15 AM

LOVE this time of the year in California. The air is crisp,  the leaves are changing colors, AND you get to wear scarves! It's a feeling of change.

With November approaching, I am feeling the spirit of giving. Whoever is page viewer 58,000 will get a pair of Queen & King Buttons. Screen capture your proof and send it to teacupbee (at) gmail (dot) com.

Been working on an album cover, creating many many sketches. These were the initial ideas for the font and back cover (not sure they will be used):
