Taarna is a Taarakian - a race of extremely skilled martial warriors descended from Taarak, who have enhanced speed and strength, as well as a hardened will to fight for justice, avenging people and factions in need.
She is summoned to defend a city but arrives too late to save it.
From that point onward, her task is to exact vengeance against those who initiated the destruction.
She wields an extremely sharp sword made from a gold alloy conjured from the molten heart of Taarak that is able to cut through most hardened surfaces, and apparently decapitate humanoids with great ease.
Her mount is a winged creature that's a cross between a pterodactyl and a dove-like bird, to which she has a psychic connection to.
She also has psychic connections to people that she makes a pact with to protect and can be summoned by them via meditational chanting.
Taarna has also been featured in her own comic series, which delves much further in her origins, powers, and purpose.
She is mainly known from the 1981 cult-classic animated film "Heavy Metal, to which she and her fable serve as the movie's ending.
Due to her strength and sexy allure, she has been a popular feminine icon, even being parodied in a South Park episode.
