Description
"THE INFECTIOUS CORDYCEPS CHAMELEON"
The Cordyceps Chameleon is a "Reptilimorp", meaning a reptile
that evolved full warm-bloodedness.
It is not a slow animal, like its smaller tree dwelling ancestors.
These big ground Chameleons use their out strung teeth like a
saw, as it hunts, Deribirds and Musk Elk, tearing them apart with
a side-to-side motion of their saw-teeth.
It is a huge lizard, over 5 feet long and standing over 4 feet
high, with a peculiar armor of fungal plates, laced with
Infectious Cordycep fungus.
"Using camouflage for more than just hunting"
This crafty Chameleon uses its camouflage to not only change color,
but also change the frills of fungus on its back to look like
wriggling worms and can even push some together to resemble
an abandoned bird nest.
It then attracts various birds that the sticky Cordycep
fungus attaches to, infecting any bird that lands on its back.
By infecting birds, the fungus ensures it will spread its
population to far off places, decreasing regional competition
from its own kind.
