Project Progress

Fri Feb 13, 2015, 10:08 AM

Talk about cliché journal title, well bottom line is, I started that new idea on FB...told no-one there about it what it was for. I asked them to provide me with character, female or male from virtually any game universe (with some restriction if I had say...a vicious hate for the character)

I intend to redesign them, my way, my style for whatever reason I see fit...so I'm ready to face hate...I mean I am after all fondamentally altering well loved design most likely. The idea behind the process is the same as any character I create from scratch, to make the character a living element, fluid and evermoving.

So the project will be these planches, assemblage of facial expression, face design, full body, sketched pose an dynamic full body pose...exact same thing I would do for a character design portfolio.

There you have it...my ambitious project...

Runner Up are:

-Vaas (FC3)
-Jack (ME2 and 3, version 3 illustrated)
-Lana (Hyrule Warrior) Sketch Phase and research phase done.
-Manuel "Manny" Calavera (Grim Fandango)
-Hope (FF13)
-Prince/Dastan (Prince of Persia)
-Anders (Dragon Age Franchise)
-Sheena (Tales of Symphonia)
-Tira (Soul Caliber serie) Research Phase
-High Inquisitor Darklaw (Pheonix Wright) Research Phase

  • Listening to: Grey Warden - DAI OST
  • Reading: Black Magic Sanction - Kim Harrison

My wishlist journal

Sun Dec 9, 2012, 10:06 AM

- What character(s) you would like to be drawn ...From either these two: The first one is Erin

Mature Content

TP Final: Character and universe 2 by DarkNightGraphX
AND NOW TP Final: Character and universe by DarkNightGraphX and the second one is Christine Redraw Criss aka Christine by DarkNightGraphX and fav.me/d4rbuk1 for her scars and such; , for both I have only sketch but how they look color wise is included in the description

- If you desire a certain type of theme to the piece; Both of the character work/live in a modern setting. Erin's setting is somewhat a tad more post/apocalyptic than Christine though
- Please rate the Maturity level...I'd rate it 16+ but for violence purpose since both character are into rather dark and gory environnement (it really has only to do with gore and violence factor...) The pg isn't meant for sexual, both character are clothed and armed.

However takes up my request...I deeply thank you and if any question arises please let me know :D I'll try and upload colored sketch at the least for the character that get,s chose.

Siggraph 2013 and Commission

Thu Nov 22, 2012, 3:54 PM

As a student in 3D, there are two major event, Le Sommet du jeu in Montréal and Siggraph...now whilst I miss my chance on the first one I wish to attend the second...pricey but it could very well be worth it.

Siggraph is more about the movie industry although not only, official website s2013.siggraph.org/. I intend to attend as a volunter but still have to pay for my plane and lodging...can you guess to where I'm going here...

Commission...now I've done those in the past with very limited result but I'm an eternal optimistic I suppose...so I present to you another formula:

PAY WHAT YOU WISH...yup, basically you pay what you want for the artwork...

Now I hear you say...There must be a catch...

Well yes there is...two actually!

First one is...Starting Price is 3.00 Dollards Canadian, for 2 good reason; I'll dedicate time to doing your artwork, so basically it's work for me, the other one is; I'm pretty sure paypal ask for a minimal fee in transaction.

Second One is...My usual style is the only one available, you can ask for pencil, ink or a mix of both. I'm open to color but only traditionally...I'll squeeze the commission whenever i can and most of these time it means I don't have a computer available.

*Usual rules apply for those commission, for further detail consult with my sine qua non*

Basically you can request a commission, for as low as 3 dollards simply following the two 'catch'

Payement can be made via paypal or other method can be discussed

Please help a 3D student go to an awesome convention where she can learn stuff and actually try and work her way in the industry !

School...or how to avoid DA

Mon Nov 19, 2012, 3:21 PM

Lately (as you've probably all notice) I was mainly away from dA...Now the culprit are School, Practival Homework and well...I'll admit a bit of Assassin Creed and Guild Wars 2.
Thing is I love drawing but that's mainly all I do between modeling. I've had heaps of awesome class and project so far...but damn those ask for a lot of time...a hell lot.

Still although very slow I'll eventually finish the art I own people and work on my class project (which as you've probably guess) all involve drawing.

Manga Studio and Dragon Age

Mon Jul 9, 2012, 9:22 AM

Main reason I'm silent on the streaming and slow on art...blaming Dragon Age...

I've been through a lot of stress recently (nothing health treathening or the like...just work formation) which end up in poorly drawn thing and bad concept art...to get rid of it I borrowed a friend's copy of Dragon Age and...yup being who I am, simply couldn't put it down...so while I still sketch traditionnaly, let's say my computer art is on the the down side...

I want to be an arcane warrior!

Now that being said, I received my copy of Manga Studio today...damn UPS sure delivers fast, I've grabed it on sale, costed me a third of it's regular price (shipping, taxes and import)...so yeah, I'll have to kick my butt and get back to the drawing tablet...well after that one last quest...

2-No Fanart, except of original character owned by you...clearly said, I won't do an existing character from a game/comic/tv/movie franchise or the likes.

3-No porn, hentai, (which comes down to porn), nothing that doesn't follow dA's rules in term of sexual content and copyright....will do gore or violence, but not if it falls into racism, xenophobism, humiliation, sexism or hate. No furry (they don't do well in my style and I'm not fond of drawing them)

4-No 3D, I still can't model my stuff, Poser is being naggy on me and I don't have the fund to do any at the moment

Escapist

I <3 Paris
Paris was great, picture should be up somewhere around next week or so...I'm still trying to tie up with work and commish, hopefully college will leave me more time for such business (cause hell knows I might need the money ^^;)

My subscription is soon coming to an end so I'll have to wait for my credit card to get clean tab again...damn you Paris and some great shopping.

I went to Le Louvre, the museum itself is a piece of art and the exhibits are splendid. We also went to Notre-Dame de Paris and I was taken aback by the majesty and sacred feeling of the place (although people felt obnoxiously loud to me). We also visited St-Eustache which is a smaller gothic church but it felt again very grand. We went into the Catacombs, taking picture was hard because of the lack of lights but hopefully some are good (no flash were allowed)

I went to la Tour Eiffel, stayed on the ground and walked a bit along the Champs de Mars. We also went close to l'Arc de Triomphe and took a great deal of pictures.

I Paris

Wed May 16, 2012, 11:01 AM

EDIT: I've been accepted to school in 3D animation and CGI at Institut Grasset...I'm so thrilled and should begin my class the 20th of August. It's a concentrated DEC, meaning it's 17 month and they request you have ALL your basic course completed along with the ÉUF...

My dream is coming true...now off to Paris and working my arse off to get money for the school fees and the new shiney laptop...

Well, not sure but It's highly likely I'll love La Ville Lumière...Going there from may 19th to 28th...I'm so exited it's thrilling! i'm deeply sorry for those still awaiting the commission...I hvae no better excuse than work swallowed me along with getting preped for the trip. I will try and draw a bit on my Pad but colorization are nearly impossible...still I'll compasate those who requested something from me with a digital sketch or two (so please feel free to ask me those...that's the least I can do)

So yeah...I'm off to Paris for a week or so :D

First time taking the plane and going somewhere further then the neighbour country (USA)
There is one purchase I promise myself...Sonata Artica's new album...it should be out a week earlier in Europe so I'll try and grab a copie.

I'm going with my mom and we still need to check what we absolutely want to see, well aside from Le Louvre (an exhibit or two) and the Catacomb (we don't have those in Montréal,QC)...seems like too much for a week....

So I'll get back to working like a franctic ant befor the D day...

COMMISSION

Wed Apr 25, 2012, 11:36 AM

EDIT: AS OF 24th of April 2012 I reopen the point/regular commish but for traditionnal art solely. Additional info below. Also since I use this info for both point and regular commission, you will find the price in $CAN next to the point value.

I'm opening points commissions (and regular commission), style, delais, fees and restriction are mentionned later in the post. To request a commission simply drop me a note in this form:

Title: Point Commission/Regular Commission
Style+Size+Color/no Color+Simple ink/Detail ink+Number of Character+BG/no BG;

These points will afterward be splitted among people I feel need a little helping hand or toward susbscriptions.

To those who already donated before I've put up these data, feel free to request art:D

->Exemple:
I would like a Traditional Usual Style Bust, Simple Ink, no Color (or Flats), no BG

Describe or reference what you wish, I'm a very open person so I won't bite:D

FEES:

Bust: 2 pts/1-3$CAN
Full Body: 5pts/2-5$CAN
BG:+1~3 pts (based on complexity)/+1$CAN no matter
Full colors:+1pt/+1$CAN
Detailled ink: +1 pt/no fees
Xtra Character: +2 pts/+2$CAN

Flats or color touch (such as say blood) is free, simple shading such as seen on Hell of A Mess is also free

ART STYLE:
Traditional (usual comic book style)

TRAD SPECIFICATION:
Marker coloring
Watercolor Coloring
Pencil (color)

Heavily inked pieces (say Sin City Style) would count as detailled ink.
-NO 3D for points/6$CAN-

WONT:Porn, hentai, hard bondage, racism/sexism/xenophobism

DELAIS: Between 1-3 weeks, depends on complexity and demands

PAIEMENT:
So let's say A wants a Digital Bust in Full Color, Simple Ink with no BG: 2+1= 3pts or for cash do the math :P

and then you have B who's a big Spender and wants a Traditional Full Body, FUll Ink, Detailled BG and Two Character: 5+3+1+1+2=12...

Lowest Commission: 3 pts
Highest Commission: 12 pts

For regular commission, paiement can be done in trade of similar value or paypal

Style changes nothing to the fee, it can only lenghten delais as Comic is easier for me than more realistic approach

Sock 'n' Doll

Sat Apr 14, 2012, 8:31 AM

OPINION SECTION (skip if uninterested)

Ok, noticed two thing on dA that rather bother me (although I've never directly been a victim of both phenomon, marely annoyed by it)

First is- Why do people who belong to any ethnic/nationality/belief etc etc feels like they need to claim thing as if they represented everyone of the same said belief/nationality ...Please, let individuals be individuals. Far from me the idea to blame people for claiming thing, but take the claim on yourself don't involve other...and I'm not proud to say I've seen it a lot, and actually mostly people from my own nationality (but then could be because I've noticed their nationality ^^;)...does it makes them bad people, no...just annoying one....and I said I've seen it more...but everyone is likely to it equally :p

Exemple; Any Canadian feels shame for such thing (and usually about a Canadian artist); or
Any Atheist should feel the wrath of *insert belief* (and I'm merely paraphrasing comment I've really read here)

*and just for info I consider myself a Québécoise and I'm not atheist, I'm something

Second is-The dA 'self proclaimed police', I admire their dedication to making dA all over more enjoyable and safer by reporting artwork that violate copyright, porn and the likes...What bothers me is how some of them do it (and sorry to those who don't do it that way, human nature being  what it is, the nasty one struck me more) They will report to dA without talking to the artist, dropping a note or a comment...you know most people on dA are amateur artist, and might I mention...human being hence being that will eventually do mistake. Sure there is trolls and plain art thief and porno...but could it be possible not to consider every artist as such right from the start...give people a chance to explain or modify. Because to be honnest, these type of police are as bad as the perpretor they chase, they ruin a friendly art climate and makes me uneasy. Also...not everyone recalls every single rule of dA at any given time...I could tell you the basic one and while my art seems fine, could violate one and be unaware of it....so yeah, it all comes down to decency and respect between fellow people.

*Disclaimer: My opinion is my own and in no way engage anyone else but me...deal with it :P*

NEWS:

Follow up from the previous journal...at the Pagan Fest they gave us a small promotionnal cd with artist under the lamel of Napalm Record and it took me through some interesting discovery...so yeah the news part is all about music:D

*Sock 'n' Doll-Kontrust, (I would put that into Dance Metal with some regeea and 80' influence...a bit unsettling but awesome)

*Army of the Damned-Lonewolf (epic metal...nuff said!)

*Sceneries of Hope-Diabulucus in Musica (symphonic metal with a nice singer)

*Yarilo-Arkona (I'm totally in love with that band...it's incredibly uplifting)

*Skal (with a sign on the a my keyboard doesn't have)-Arkona (sounds like a drinking song to me...but then I don't speak russian)

*Eiskönigin-Nachblut (sounds a bit like Rammstein with an electronic vibe)

Take care y'all...and no worries there won,t be much ranting journal

I've also been playing a lot of Dead Space (for Ipad) and dam that game is awesome...makes me feel all better to slice a horde of Necromorph...my fave gun has got to be the Saw Gun (best for demebering) The 2 is suppose to be adapted as well somewhere this summer
