I know it's not supposed to matter, but...

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 22, 2009, 10:31 AM

I just hit 10,000 page views.

I actually watch and care about IMAGE views more, and my number there is a little less than 24,000. Which means, if you do the math, that someone who comes to my front page, on average, looks at 2.5 of my pieces.

But, to get back on topic, I do want to thank everyone for hitting the big 10K... it is kind of nice, I have to admit, to see a 5 figure number in that little slot instead of a 4 figure one.

And what really makes me enjoy this moment is looking back over the last 2 years and thinking of all that has happened; my involvement with the site, how much I liked being a member here, and how much I put into my page and my posts here... all the new freinds I've made...

I've been an active member of numerous sites over the years, but I can say truthfully that my membership to this one means a great deal to me.

So, from my heart, to all here, thank you for a very special 2 years, and for helping me to reach 10,000 hits on my page. I won't often comment on page views in this way, but this was a special moment, and I think it fair to let everyone who comes to my page, and has become my freind here, know that it means a lot to me.

Now; back to business!

Who needs a critique???

;)

  • Listening to: Working on my originals on guitar
  • Reading: everything I can find by R.A. Salvatore
  • Watching: True Blood and diggin the crap out of it
  • Playing: every chance I get
  • Eating: at least once a day
  • Drinking: now and then. But only in moderation

Congrats on hitting 5 figures...
You should make news articles about the posts you put in the Art Scene forum, they're pretty good.
(And if you're genuinely offering critiques: [link])

A bit off topic but!
Rob I didn't know you are a Salvatore fan! Have to admit I've been out of touch with his newer works.. really need to pick up on that again! last book book I finished Jaraxle was just finishing up his exploits with his band of Drow cut throats and off and running with Artie some place less Taxing then "Calimport" forget Artimus's home town name! any how! he is a great writer! love his works! Drizz and the crew of course being some of my all time Favs!
As to on topic I really don't pay all the much attention to page views myself! But I hear where your coming from! and congratz on the mile stone! if not a bit belated
nice work on the front page Btw wish I new a bit about CSS but I don't get that stuff! so I'm stuck with the default look

I'll tell you the truth, Grim, DA has a CSS loader for journals now. It's all automatic. I simply picke done I liked and it did all the rest. But I am glad to not have a plain jane page anymore.

Yep, I dig Salvatore. Recently, I bought like 6 or 7 books by him all at once. I'm a voracious reader. With all the free time I have lately, I can read a book in two days, and if I go on a tear, I can read a 400 page novel in about 8 hours. So 7 books is like 10 days reading for me if I read every day.

Done any new work of merit lately? Haven't heard from you in a little minute. I need to go by your gallery and take a look around.

Thanks for the kind words, Grim.

ah where can I find this journal loader? been out of the loop for a bit .. in the mist of apartment renovations and just managed to get my computer set back up in a meg-shift setup till things are complete!

As to art work! well to be honest not really anything note worthy.. My health has not been the greatest either and general mood about life in general has been somewhat lack luster and it's showing in my work. hopefully the new reno's well change things! the old configuration of rooms was quite oppressive and classtrophobic. I've blown out a couple of walls and opened things up.. makes for a much airy and open feeling! I think this should help out greatly to my personal sense of well being!

I share your appetite for reading and read about the same speed by the sounds of it, I've killed off a few of his 400 pagers in 8 hours myself! He does that to you! your hooked and just can't put it down till you've ingested the whole thing!

good to hear from you again Robert!

If I could get DA to sticky a post of mine, I'd writ eone on the uselessness of young artists trashing their art, their skill, and themselves.

I won't even bother to comment on your work until you ask me without the damn self-deprication.

Stop putting yourself down. It's unprofessional and a whole lot of B.S. for someone who creates images like you do.

Now, if you'd like me to actually comment seriously on what I see in your work, ask me with confidence, and I will.

Congratz :D

You're right of course...it SHOULDN'T matter, and so many people here play the numbers game for the wrong reasons. Or get underserved attention for very little, and blah blah. We know it.

( I've already figured out how this system works, and the kind of stuff a large number of people on here are searching for. I set up an adult-only themed account for that very purpose and bagged 2K+ views in about 3 months, with regular updates. There's some weird, obsessive folks out there. )

But, it's the quality of watchers and givers of feedback I care about, and I seem to have picked up a real good bunch over my times here. I'd rather have 1 good, honest comment than 10 hit-n-run faves.

I'm close to the 10K mark myself as my 2nd anniversary approaches in about 5 weeks. I'll no doubt post something very erudite and reflective in celebration of that landmark :p

or you can look at it as- one in 2.5 people who see your work care who you are...? that's always how i read it...(da's statistics are AMBIGUOUS...)

embarrased. i mainly hang around for your braaains, rather than for your art. but i've been meaning to pay it some attention.

digging the actionscript gallery...interesting categorisation...how come you seperated your work through backing colour?

i had a squiz when i first added you, man, and i dug it all back then, it's just been a while...

if i had to pick a favoutite...the 'green iguana' graphic with the woman and the 'wave plate' was pretty cool.

Actually, I used DA script feature and just picked one I liked. I don't write scripts. When it loaded, it formatted everything according to the original script.

Glad you like the iguana piece. I had a lot of fun doing that one, and got paid pretty good.

Maybe it is not supposed to matter, but it is always nice to have work appreciated. It is sad when no one comes and looks =P
Congrats! Hope you and yours are doing well.
