Yet another piece of fanart. This time we have Lasaraleen Tarkheena, a friend of Aravis Tarkheena, who is the only daughter of Kidrash Tarkaan, the son of Rishdi Tarkaan, the son of...well, read the Horse and His Boy for further details. It's all in there.

Lasaraleen helps Aravis when she finds herself alone with two talking horses in the Calormen city of Tashbaan (Shasta having been hustled off by a bunch of Narnians after being mistaken for the Prince of Archenland). Aravis sees her friend and leaps into her litter. Lasaraleen (who was married young as was the Calormene custom) takes Aravis back to her house, where she proceeds to convince Aravis by her frivolous lifestyle and silliness that running away to Narnia is exactly the thing to do (despite Las's protests to the contrary).

An excellent character. And although I always imagined her blonde, I have made her to look quite Calormene (as they appear in my imagination) in this sketch. Blonde Lasaraleen may come, though. :)

Her most famous quote:

"Now, listen all of you (and you, doorkeeper). No one is to be let out of the house today. And anyone I catch talking about this young lady will first be beaten to death and then burned alive and after that be fed on bread and water for the next six weeks." -Lasaraleen

Great to see fanart of her! We all know a Lasaraleen, don't we? Awesome work.

Yes, I'm sure we all have at least one Lasaraleen in our lives. But they would be duller and less interesting for it, no? :) Thank you for your comment!

Sad, isn't it? Las deserves more fanart. Although she really should be blond. :) Thanks!

Thanks! I always imagined her a little differently, but this is how my friends apparently think she looks. Dark and all. But she acts like a blonde! :)

Thank you! I love the scene where Lasaraleen meets Aravis in the crowded street...it's so classic. :) Thanks for the comment!

:) Thank you! Las is ridiculous and brilliant. She and Corin are so dreadfully original...C.S. Lewis was a mastermind. Thanks for the comment!
