Dark Line Spectrum is a DIE & EBM project (Dark Industrial Electronic with Electronic Body Music) blending deep sonic textures with immersive visuals. Born from a desire to dive into the core of the human soul, DLS draws a musical line into our inner abysses. Each track is an introspective descent. Each visual a distorted mirror of consciousness. From Act One (2015) to their virtual reality works, the group explores the boundary between art and chaos.
The abyss beyond the abysses.
The Dark Line is not a path one stumbles upon by chance. It does not roam the earth’s surface to trace the outlines of our stories. It is a musical line descending deep into our being. We each have our own, and all descend into the abyss. It is an inward fall. Letting go of the line during the descent is to risk losing one’s awareness in the maze of the soul. Along the fall, the neophyte surface-dweller sees the reflection of the self their consciousness refused to know. The disciple of the Dark Line discovers the biography of their true story the one buried beneath awareness. The neophyte resurfaces when the disciple encounters abysses within the abyss. The neophyte forgets their true nature and returns to the illusions of consciousness, while the disciple continues mapping the depths of their being.
For a disciple of the Dark Line, self-knowledge is the ultimate goal. For those who seek to master it, it is a reason to dig ever deeper into their own abyss. The disciple swims freely in the waters of introspection, while the master dies quite literally digging through the bedrock of their self. The disciple forgets who they were not, as the master uncovers, beneath the abyssal floor, an insurmountable hell. Already dead, the master's spectral form no longer fears the insurmountable and plunges into the very core of their essence. While the neophyte forgets who they truly are, and the disciple forgets who they thought they were, the spectral master remembers everything.
Drone
He is the clown banished from Hell by Satan himself. A disembodied entity in a demonic hybrid form. His human appearance is a mere illusion concealing the only bearer of a laugh so harrowing even the fiercest demons yield to it. He wanders through the realm of humans. He is a specter. He is an artist. He is Drone, the diverging electronic sound.
Taxidermie
She is the one who sketches your nightmares. With an innate instinct for navigating the many shadowed roads haunting your tortured souls. She dances on your agonizing bodies before preserving your cadavers like trophies. She is an illusionist. A thanatopractor. She is Taxidermie, the source of eternal despair.
In photography, no one criticizes me for capturing a moment of reality at the push of a button. Without creating all the ray tracings or brushstrokes myself. This remark, however, had its heyday in the early days of photography. Accusing me of producing images with an AI has the same effect.
Between 100 and 000 photos to keep one is the average among photographers who take pictures on the fly. With AIs, under the same conditions, that is, working on the fly without preparation, the ratio is the same. The lack of preparation brings more unexpectedness and randomness, both in photography and with AI.
However, we work with AI images with a certain amount of preparation. Preparation of the initial prompt. Creation of reference images, if necessary, creation of LORAs. Testing in different AIs. Varying the prompt. Mixing the results. Etc. And finally, find Photoshop, erasing, blending slaps, correcting tones, whether local or global, etc. There's a real artistic process that must be adapted to each creation. We don't just ask an AI for an image to post here. Those who think that AI does all the work for us have misunderstood, like the judges and executioners of photography in their time. Fortunately, things and thoughts are evolving.
On the other hand, we readily acknowledge that this art would not be possible without the prior participation of all the artists who preceded the AIs and who remain imperative to its evolution. While it is possible to feed the AIs with the results of the AIs, it does not remain true that they are limited to taking examples from what already exists. Manual artists thus become even more desired because without them, the AIs are nothing. Any artiste usefull for AI users must be pay bu sharing profits to let all of them give more manual artworks.
