Very nicely done. References are a great tool to use with human anatomy and with animals. My sister mostly paints and sculpts animals and she has a huge reference library of animals she has collected for some 30 years. You can also enlist family and friends to copy and ear or hand.

Looking at your gallery, you are progressing well. Your use of light and shadow is well developed. A future consideration is to experiment with skin texture, which can bring a portrait alive.
