Okay, first things, first.

Ai "art" isn't art. I am not saying you're horrible person if you use it or anything. I get that it can be fun to play around with it. But it isn't art.  

Art is always an expressions.

And expression of us, what we like, what fascinates us. Even if you think you're not good at it - you still think about what you like. About colours, shapes and so much more. Maybe you don't know why you like picked the colour you picked, a simple yellow. But you did so because it seemed right. Because you have real understanding of what you see, connected  it with feelings, memories.  

Ai can never to that. It's not more than looking for trending images, copies, mixes them mindlessly- maybe with some filter, but never with anything original or any real understanding, and that's it.

As mentioned, Ai can't have any original thought. It just copies. And I am not saying that humans don't or would get inspired by other. But if you do an art, you still put own thought into it.

Humans started ( as far as we know) with simple shapes on caves walls. And we evolved art into thousands and thousand of art styles, motives, methods.  

Ai could never do it. We see it devolving already. Many art sides are already so flooded with Ai art, that Ai starts to "learn" from itself, and with "learn" I mean getting worse. Loosing "creativity" and getting worse in general.

The only reason why it seems to get better, is because people are working on filters and stuff, but that restrict it only further. The most creative work was done by the people who wrote the algorithms.

Okay, you could say, if a simple shape is art, and if you put prompts into it, you put your own input in.

Yeah but not really. If you ever draw yourself you know that there is much more that goes into creating art, than simple prompts. Many details, and even simple things like shapes, curves, and so one.

If you use Ai you're not more of an artist  as a person who can commission some one and gives a quick description. (or someone who put the prompts into google) And it also can't do anything it can't copy from some else. ( and it seldom looks really like the picture you had in your head, right? Accept if it's some fairly easy concept to begin with)

I am not saying there is no creativity here, but it's a big difference.

I have “used” Ai, trying to “break “ it, by putting conflicting prompts into it, trying to get some surrealistic, something that highlighted how Ai doesn't understand what it is doing. Creating some uncanny. If anything that's the closest Ai ever comes to art, it shows it's own emptiness. It's “soullessness”. Nothing more than a machine, following calculations designed to copy humans.

And just to be clear. it's not a skill thing.

I have seen people using Ai on their own works, giving them  much more realistic look, a style  they couldn't have done themselves, but the images was still clearly theirs.

That's still that persons art.

Or if we could just link our brains to our computer, and extracted what we can see in our minds – still art. Sill our thoughts and ideas. ( I mean that would be great. Many people who now feel they can't paint, could share their ideas, and express themselves.)

Many people think art is about what's beautiful, but that's wrong. Art is always an expression from the artist. Ai is just  a copy of what's trending. Pretty or not.
