Kirby a Third Chance: Chapter 5
The ship both Marx and Magolor were so excited about sat in the middle of a grassy field. Colored white and blue, the Lor Starcutter looked more like it was meant for the water than for the sky with it's shape, mast, and the oars at it's sides. Yet, when Zero got close, he could also see what looked like rainbow colored veins running along it's walls. They eerily reminded him of the creature from the void.
"Welcome to my home!" Magolor clapped his hands excitedly before rushing ahead of Zero and Marx as they neared the door. "I wasn't expecting guests, so there might be a stray book or two lying about the floor, and the ship might not be in the mood for strangers either."
"The ship has moods?" Zero asked. "That's kinda hard to believe."
"Yeah, it doesn't trust people much," Magolor slumped a bit with lowered ears. "Especially after some events a while back."
"Ooh," Marx leaned towards Magolor. "What kinda even-"
Zero pushed past the two of them. "I was promised

Walking through the forest with Marx was the opposite of quiet. The jester never stopped talking. Nor did he ever seem to stop moving, even when they'd take a break. And once he'd run out of questions, that Zero almost never answered, he moved on to talking about himself. His constant energy gave Zero a headache.
One question Marx repeated was why Zero was in Whispy Woods if he didn't know his way around. Finally, Zero told him that he was a traveler. He had recently gotten to Dreamland and found himself within the forest while looking for a place to stay, which was as close to true as he'd make it.
Afterwards, Marx just tilted his head, saying, "Oh, like me then."
Soon the duo found themselves at the edge of the forest. Once past the last of the trees, they could see green, grassy hills under bright afternoon light. Little colorful flowers popped up everywhere they looked. And a lazy, cool wind blew at their faces. Not used to all the vibrant colors, Zero's eye began

Where should he go? That was the question Zero kept wondering about as he sat with his star. A roof of leaves wouldn't protect well against the rain. And even though his interaction with Whispy had ended without any problems, he wasn't too keen on sticking around in case it was just luck. Plus, he didn't want to meet anybody else who his Dark Matter had possessed. Actually, that was the main reason.
Since Zero was on Popstar, he would have to be careful of where he did end up going. If Kirby saw him, he would instantly be recognized. So Zero had to find someplace the puffball never visited, or leave Popstar entirely. As much as he wanted to go far from the planet, he had a feeling that his little wings wouldn't get him past the atmosphere, forcing him to simply hide.
Choosing a random direction, Zero began walking again. A few dead leaves crunched under his feet, the only noise to compete with the repetitive birdsong. Actually, it sounded more like screeching. Suddenly, a crash

Zero opened his eye to a beam of sunlight flashing into his pupil. Squinting against it, he sat up upon the grass and looked about himself, seeing trees in every direction. He was in a forest.
He then turned his gaze down at himself, knowing that, like the last time he'd been reborn, he'd have changed appearance. He could feel the wings at his back, and he saw the shadow of his halo still. But, he seemed smaller, much smaller, than before. And he was surprised to see that he had both hands and feet this time. Those eerily reminded him of Kirby.
Leaning against a tree, he attempted to stand on his new feet. He wobbled as he started walking through the trees, unsure of where he was or where he was headed, but wanting to leave the area for somewhere new. Plus, he needed the practice. Every couple of minutes, he tripped over a root or stubbed his toe on a rock. And after a while, he had to pause and sit on a stump to rest. Walking was much harder than flying. Then he saw a pond

Quivering, Zero let Kirby shoot at him without attacking back. Their fight had gone on for hours, leaving the leader of the Dark Matter drained, miserable, and hopeless. Had he even hit Kirby once?
Zero just shielded his eye by squeezing it shut. Then he heard his halo shatter, feeling the rush of pain from being stabbed by a Crystal Gun shard rush down his head soon after. He'd been hit at his old battle wound. Thrashing, he tried to avoid what he knew would come. As Kirby and Ribbon shot his weakest spot, Zero felt his body begin to break. He was losing the ability to move, to think, even the sadness he could never evade. He was about to die, again.
He awoke in a white space, floating in an empty void. There was no ground and no gravity. Zero was alone in a place he'd been only once before, when he'd died the first time.
He had waited for what felt like years in that nothingness, in a limbo of sadness, rage, and a twisted vengeance towards all those that could feel
