Just ran across this thread while searching around for tutorials... Hey, I happen to favor several of the lesser-used or never-used formulas, and at this moment I am rendering a piece that mixes the MandyCousin formula and I forget what else... Here are a couple of my better efforts from recent times:

bit of a noob to MB3D but have grasped some basics but can anyone point me in the right direction for writing a parameter - at the moment I'm opening existing parameters and tweaking their formulae; is there a way to write one from scratch? How are people getting all these amazing images? Thanks.

I love to experiment with rarely used formulas, and especially with Quadrat3D. Recently I've used TrifoxComplexAngles.
And I miss at least one more in your list which I like but see very rarely:  TalisTpx (not 100% sure whether it is origiginally from you, but I believe to remember that I had seen it in your 'final' list) :-)

Well, there are really many formulas available, and it's not always easy to distinguish, or to understand what they are doing - either mathematical, or as a tool to create forms.

Maybe it would be an idea if we could create a kind of overview with some sample pictures - either as a subforum in fractalforums, or as a formula focussed group here in dA. I could at least contribute some samples.
I know, there are many explained (and discussed) in the forums, however, I don't find all of them (well, maybe I'm too stupid to search ;-)).

Aargh. Forgotten the examples:

Typical Quadrat3D:   fav.me/d67p1pa fav.me/d5zpc6m fav.me/d4xbn9i <da:thumb id="375722974">

For Ruckerbulb etc there has been that M3D teaser. However, the pictures are all quite mixed. Maybe that: fav.me/d69wbji

And of course the newest stuff, mixing TrifoxComplexAngles, TalisTpx, MengerKoch (but not V2 ;-)), and Aex-Octo:  fav.me/d6tqjjg fav.me/d6tqoqf fav.me/d6t1iiv

Of course, there is enough to do, and thank to you M3D will not become boring :-)

I lurve Quintic and have used it a lot I think. Some of the others I tried and didn't get results I liked. It's possible that I may try them sometime again though my desire to play with fractals lately is weak - too much real world shit.

What does "whipped cream" mean in this case?

Luca, I totally and massively appreciate all you've done with M3D even though I don't understand numbers and math hardly one bit at all! I'm so happy that you are a genius at this and have provided me with hours of joy. Thanks so much. I always brag about you to my friends!

My recent floral stuff (Triffidium) will be in a show next weekend AND I sold my first painting ever, a Mandelbulb (Abandoned Containers for a dA contest) this summer in a show for Mad Pride. I'm still pretty thrilled even if it was only $45 Cdn! LOL! Anything is better than nothing. I'm even thinking of getting a printer going so that I can make cards and sell them on consignment or something. All thanks to you and M3D (Jesse). So yeah - you're adorable!

Plus when I have more time online, I'll be posting some variations on the params you sent me recently! Thanks again, you're a star! :D

I will make a point of always saying what I use when I post..  most often I do .. and I will look through my back catalogues and see if there are any interesting renders to render in full..and of course I really appreciate all your great work and effort you do in making all this available to us :highfive:

I have played a lot with the MandyCousin variations and also the Aexion formulas recently, but many of these others are ones that make my computer cry. I don't want it to die yet, so I try to limit complex formulas and huge iterations and massive render sizes...I wish I could do nothing but this all day, but my job has a way of insisting that I be there instead of at my computer where I am happy.

I will make a point of trying some new things soon.

Your work is not for nothing! Coming to MB3D from Apophysis I'm having trouble relating to the difference between how Julia functions. In some ways ignorance is bliss - I can take a formula and play with it (dynamite or whipped cream) and have "fun". The formulas mean absolutely nothing to me being nearly a half century removed from my mathematical prime I'm dependent on strictly visual feedback. Hitch me to the plow but the furrows may not yield crop circles ;)

sorry  We all enjoy and appreciate what you do for MB3D. Most of us just don't understand math the way you do!!! ;) We use it for money matters, cooking, making stuff that we've been trained to.

Had occasion to observe a layer of dust that moisture had patterned between the panes of a thermal window that lost it's seal and thought to myself "ah, Voroni?".  I see and can name it but understand nothing about the math that defines/explains the pattern.
