I think that this is a very good attempt, specially for the first one :) I love what you do with the swords!

There are some things that need tending too when photomanipulating, so you can get a more cohesive work in the end:

perspective: always make sure you know your perspective, so when you mount the elements they all work together. I think that in this piece your character looks a bit "glued" to the background due to this. Also, he was placed a bit too high for his proportions;

lighting: this is almost tied to perspective in terms of importance. In photomanips, you must ALWAYS make sure the light source for every element is the same or that you made it so it "became" the same. Also, take into consideration how shadows interact with each element. Finally, keep in mind that the colour(s) of the light source always affect every element in some way, so if it's the sun some yellows must be introduced, etc etc

edges and outlines: always check so that the limits of each element fits the other, not making look like it's glued there. Depending on what it is, you might want to use the rubber tool with 0% hardness and a really small size, passing it through the edges of the new element, "blurring" it a bit. Blur tool, sharpen tool, etc can also be explored for this
