Desert Crabs

Back to daily sketching ideas!

As always fun painting and talking to Michal Kus about mech designs! Exchanging the ideas and brainstorms are one the most valuable thing you can do with your friends to make you better designer/artist, what do you think?

Was reading Takeshi Kovac's series by Richard K. Morgan and this artwork is exactly how I imagined Sharyan Spider tanks mentioned in the books. Great style and execution!

Just finished watching the Overwatch Cinematic Trailer and saw something awfully similar to this in the background for a couple of shots.  Thought you might like to see it yourself:

"Exchanging the ideas and brainstorms are one the most valuable thing you can do with your friends to make you better designer/artist, what do you think?" : Yes it is, it was when i was working with my friends i enjoyed the most my work, so i couldn't agree more !
(The hardest part is when you have to go back to work alone in your room u.u )

No rocks or mountain sides will stop these tanks. This is very formidable forces!

This is an amazing piece of work, as always, but there is a fundamental issue in the design.  Those back legs need something more.  The recoil from the turret (if we're to believe this is a standard "ammo" type turret) would mean it needs a lot of support at the rear when it fires in order to stop it rolling over backwards.

Of course, there is also the problem of the turret turning and it firing in different directions.  I'm not sure about the potential stability unless the crab was to lower onto it's belly as it fires?
I was thinking of how the 50cal gunner was going to accidentally blow that antenna dish off.  Looks a hell of a lot more realistic than most mechs though.  No silly energy swords or overly human designs holding a giant rifle with a giant finger operated trigger.

No pewnie - a jak jeszcze dodasz do tego odpowiednią ilość głupawki, to zabawa jest przednia :P

I love the picture and your artwork, but a crab tank should be very different, having a lower profile and more spread out larger/better armored legs. Still they look SOOOOO fun
