For many people, being LGBTQ+ can be difficult. Being open about who you are is a challenging point in many LGBTQ+ people’s lives, and many worry about what people will think, and who will or won’t accept them. Seeing LGBTQ+ supporters can be a meaningful reminder that it’s okay to be yourself.

At the beginning of the month, we asked deviants to create art with one of the six colors of the Pride flag. We’re overwhelmed and heart-warmed to see the outpouring of support of deviants and all of the stories that have been shared. Over 10,000 deviants submitted Pride art.

Today, we’re releasing a Pride flag made with love by the DeviantArt community — and you can now add it to your profile to show your support, or to just celebrate Pride!

Is there a way to block every single person who has this crap installed on their profile?
I am sick of seeing it, it's like people are advertising for hookups, dA has become a Grindr clone.

I really don't care if you bum chickens, why the fuck do I need to know about it?

If we are gonna really have shitty segregationist widgets like this, then I demand a straight pride widget.
Oh wait, what's that you say? Straight pride doesn't exist because they are not persecuted?
Okay then, where's my black pride widget? Where's my fat pride widget? Where's my ginger widget?
Where's my disabled widget? Where's my nazi widget?

Just because I won't tongue punch another mans fartbox means I can't be proud?

That's racist!

In all honesty, I'm proud not to be LGBTQ+. That doesn't mean I hate those who are, I completely respect them.
Also, I hope it is apparent that I am not a lazy, uneducated bum who stares at a screen all day.
Another thing... Why is it that every group out there seems to be screaming "Accept us! We need accaptance! We are good people!" when Christians are the ones who get oceans of hate poured over them without any outsiders doing a single thing about it?
Swear at me all you want, haters. I love contradicting contradictions and educating the needy with grammar lessons.
You people are proudly displaying pride in your beliefs... Is it really wrong that I do the same?

Yes yes that's right! Like okay, i'm LGBT myself but I find it so annoying how people are like. Constantly forcing upon you how gay they are. Like, I don't care?? Second, i'm so tired of the STRAIGHT PEOPLE ARE HOMOPHOBIC shit because that ain't right. Both my parents are straight and accepting.
The lgbt representation nowadays is so fucking annoying and it's represented so horribly that I wish I wasn't labeled as an annoying fag.
Third, what exactly am I supposed to be proud about?? The fact I came into this world as a homosexual and the fact that I get made fun of at school and by people I care about??
Yeahhhh, that's real great! How swell c': I'm sure am proud to be called gay slurs all my life! So much fun!!

Yes! All you have to do is speak your mind these days and suddenly you're getting false/exaggerated accusations and labels. And they say that they think acceptance is a good thing (it is, duh), but apparently if everybody doesn't have the same mindset that means that the world gets split into "freaks who disagree, no matter how slightly" or "awesome people who love everything except for the freaks and their beliefs".
Which isn't accurate at all.

god you are a preach! Yes yes I agree all the way. If I could change the community I would, but how can I possibly do it. I wish I wasn't forced into this kind of trash everyday. I have friends that i'm basically forced to hangout with at school and they just enjoy discriminating the poor heteros who ain't doing shit and they just enjoy having "i'm gay" being their only vocab word. Like, how tf do you say you're closeted?? when you do this shit??

Yes, I can't stand how there's always this pushiness and accusations, labels, you name it. According to society, there is no moderate "acceptance" level. It's either celebration or hate, according to them. I'm nowhere near about to go around waving a rainbow flag, but I'm not about to hiss and spit furiously, either! Aren't people allowed to be of a less drastic mindset?
That sounds tough. I hope things get better for you.

Every now and then I return to this because the comments are hilarious.
This time I'm going to rant, this is so unneeded and stupid.
Most of the LGBT commenters are also huge cry babies.
How come they use "cishet" as if it's an insult, Jesus Christ..

Pride for your sexuality is stupid to begin with. "We are being murdered" who is this WE? Anyone can be murdered for ANYTHING, I find that argument to be so stupid, because while, let's say, Jeffrey Dahmer did kill homosexuals, he didn't kill them BECAUSE of their sexuality, he himself was a homosexual, he killed them because people who kill are not okay in their head. They're messed up.

Getting angry because someone is a homophobe is STUPID. They're NOT harming you just because they don't agree with you, some of them can even turn out to be wonderful people, but you won't give them a chance. Why would you EVER, E V E R, compare a person who has done NOTHING wrong, to someone who has killed others?

Stop hiding behind the "but we get killed" mask. You won't get killed just because a random person over the internet doesn't think homosexuality is okay, and frankly I find it extremely offensive how many of you hide behind this
"You're probably a cishet white male"
Wrong. I'm 1. Homosexual, 2. Transgender, 3. From, and currently living, in Iran. If I, me, living in a country that stones lgbt members to death, can say this, so can you. Grow up.

(Also mental illness awareness month and veterans month is more needed than being proud of who you bang)

Glad you're still Christian.
One thing to keep in mind: We are saved only by the belief that Jesus died to redeem us. Every other factor is ruled out when it comes to going to heaven. However, the Bible straightforwardly says that this is not a good thing to do, as it does STEALING, ABUSE, and HONORING OUR PARENTS, may I remind everyone. I am in no way trying to force my mindset upon anyone here, I merely suggest working on your faith.
Anyone who is LGBTQ+ does NOT get my hate, I accept anyone and everyone for who they've come to be. I am not supportive of it, but that does not mean I am a raving, pushy, ill-grammared bum whose main purpose is to tell everyone they're a freak (I've seen plenty of those). I respect the decisions people make, even if I don't agree with those decisions. Like they say, "Hate the game, not the player". :)

There are lots of people in the lgbtq+ community who are christian. Your sexuality doesn't make your beliefs any less valid, if that's a concern you have. And yes, it makes perfect sense. Don't worry 100% okay to question your sexuality! Don't be afraid to question yourself, and no matter what you decide to identify with in the end, I hope it brings you peace.

Hope this helped! <3

Why is sexual deviance something society should celebrate? Do we ever celebrate the family, for instance? We have a dying society with a broken family unit, and all we seem obsessed with celebrating is a life style of waving a dildo and having random sex. Pleasures of the sex are hardly a major virtue. Society needs to celebrates things and values that will contribute to its survival. Be of whatever sexual orientation you want, as long as you don't transgress over others. But this obsession with homosexuality is really taking a bizarre turn. I want people to be proud of being married and having kids. I want the family unit being celebrated.

I agree with you. I respect homosexuals, trans, etc as a humans, but i don't accept that LGBT trying to manipulate a normal people. This is a sexual deviation and illness, i'm not celebrating that. Just no.

While I understand that you want things like the survival of society to be celebrated, I'd like to say something, even if it is a bit cynical. With more orphans than ever, now would be a fine time to adopt and raise those kids. A future where having parents of the same gender is as normal as having parents of both genders is something that we should all look forward to. Being homosexual is not an illness. It is a mental standpoint that should be respected. You can argue that it is deviating from what is natural all you like, but being able to access the internet itself is not natural, as is disrespecting another person's point of view.

Thank You for Your Feedback on Eclipse!

Last week, we announced the Beta launch of DeviantArt Eclipse — a completely redesigned version of DeviantArt that puts more emphasis on artists and their art. As a Beta release, Eclipse is still under development and only available to a small portion of the DeviantArt community. We use the Beta release to gather feedback that allows us to closely analyze deviant engagement and sentiment.

Over 4,000 deviants have already tried Eclipse and many have shared their invaluable and much-appreciated feedback. We’ve received nearly 1,700 individual Eclipse feedback reports — including 407 bug reports, 532 feature requests, and 748 pieces of general commentary. Our team has read through and triaged over 60% of these reports and has a goal of completing all of them in the coming week. Thank you to every deviant who has taken the time to share feedback. Whether you’re someone who provided a few words or several paragraphs of candid response, we appreciate the passion you have for helping us ensure Eclipse will meet the needs of our diverse community.

This Is Just the Beginning of Eclipse

As with most Beta releases, we launched Eclipse knowing there were bugs and highlighted a handful of the most obvious in our release journal. We wanted to release sooner than later so we can begin this journey together – gathering feedback and insights and applying it into our development, fixes, and improvements. Plus, as Beta Testers, this is what you signed up for! We need your deviant-expertise to help identify bugs everything from baby bugs to elusive, exotic bugs.

Based on feedback, it’s clear there are certain areas of Eclipse that are leaps and bounds ahead of the “green site.” It’s also clear there are some things that need to be improved. We expected this and continue to welcome your feedback — the good and the bad. We’re in this together and want to hear from deviants every step of the way.

We're Exploring More Ways To Customize Your Profile

Eclipse provides new ways to personalize your Profile, including the ability to select Header Art for your page, linking to your social media platforms, and stating your commission status. However, with the removal of Custom Box, we heard, loud and clear, that deviants want more options to display content. We’re also in the process of exploring other ways you can customize your Profile. We’ll be sharing tips and varied examples of ways you can really customize Profiles. In the meantime, here’s one example of how @katy-l-wood is testing Eclipse’s current abilities to enhance her Profile.
Many deviants asked for the ability to showcase a single deviation on your profile. This is something we are already working on. We’d also like to clarify that, for the foreseeable future, Custom Boxes within Groups will remain as they are. Groups will eventually be redesigned with Eclipse in mind, but that process won’t be complete for many months. We’ll provide advance notice about any removal of Custom Boxes in Groups.

Addressing Your Other Top Concerns

The new Feedback allows easy viewability of your most recent and unread notifications; however, we’ve seen concerns about Feedback needing improvement as a whole. For example, deviants report it’s cumbersome to remove notifications and it’s hard to remove notifications in bulk. We’ll be making the “remove” button more accessible so that you can one-click remove (or one-click save) just as you could on the “green site.” We’re still reviewing the experience of mass removing feedback and hope to have updates soon.We are currently working on issues regarding Header Art and avatars – specifically, their size and quality. Icon codes and plz accounts will be coming soon to Eclipse. :iconlaplz:The new text editor makes it easy to write Literature, with the option to add formatting and illustrations to your work. That said, the Literature experience in Eclipse is still a work in progress. As we mentioned in the Beta journal, using Literature and journal thumbnails is not yet finished. Literature thumbnails in the sidebar (under “More Like This”) are also not yet finished.Improving the display of Literature thumbnails is something our Product and UX teams are already actively working on improving.Having a “Show More” link on deviation descriptions and comments allows for a cleaner viewing experience; however, based on feedback, we've removed "Show More" from deviation descriptions and comments. While search in Gallery, Favourites, and Journals didn’t make it into the Beta version of Eclipse, it’s our aim to bring this functionality to Eclipse.Several deviants brought up that the ability to include thumbs by pasting a URL (or thumb code) is not currently possible. We mentioned this in the original announcement, but we want to reiterate this is not working as intended and will be implemented in the future.

Of course, this isn’t a complete list. It represents our first step at addressing some of your top concerns and we’ll be sharing more responses and updates — including bug fixes — in the weeks ahead.

Keep it Coming!

In the release process, things are constantly evolving as we gain insights and implement updates. Please keep in mind these updates can take time to get used to. As you continue to explore Eclipse, share your thoughts and concerns through the Eclipse overall feedback or bug report/feature request forms. While we encourage general discussion in the journal comments, using the official form allows us to triage and act on feedback in a quicker, more manageable way.

We also want to give a shout-out to the amazing deviants who’ve produced really thorough Eclipse reviews:

Re: Eclipse by @rotane Eclipse by @katy-l-wood Review of Eclipse + Suggestions @nominee84 @senshistock’s video and documentEclipse Glimpse and Thoughts by @lexidus @taitrochelle’s videoMy Deviation Submission Journey in Eclipse PLUS by @ilantiis My Thoughts on the New Watch/Feedback System by @iingo Eclipse: WhatIsRight, WhatIsNot, HowToFixIt @ashclad-shade

Again, thank you to everyone! With your feedback, we’ve filed numerous bugs and our developers are working on them continually.
