Description
Supermarine Spitfire LF.IXc "G-IRTY", also known as the Silver Spitfire, sits on the grass at Imperial War Museum Duxford back in July 2019. This was captured just a few weeks prior to embarking on and completing an around the world flight.
The feat, which had been named "The Longest Flight", took her over 27,000 miles and brought her to Iceland, Greenland, USA, Canada, Russia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, and finally back home to the UK, completing the flight the following December. As such, the flight brought her to many places which would have not seen a Spitfire in flight since wartime/post war years.

Love that trace of heat and oil tracking the aerofoil back from the exhaust!
