Daniel Maia is a comic books artist and advertising/editorial illustrator, plus indie publisher (Arga Warga Editions, 2005-Present).
Beginning his career in 2003, with an (unreleased) graphic novel for Platinum Publishing, and gained a wide experience in the field over the next thirty years, also in tangential fields such as editorial assistance and publishing, coordinating exhibitions and masterclasses, plus writing articles and reviews (for portuguese media). Worked for Platinum Studios, FNAC, McMillian/Thomas Nelson LLC, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Chiaroscuro Studios, Saída de Emergência Editions, Ala dos Livros and others.
Among other accolades, won a Critics' Choice Award for Revelation Artist (1995), Trophies Central Comics for Best Artist (2006), Best Independent Publication (2010), Best Short Comic (2018) and Best Short Comic of the Decade (2024), and the ChesterQuest worldwide comics talents hunt by Marvel Comics (2009). Was also nominated for Best Graphic Novel by Portuguese Author at Amadora Comics Award (2022), along with many other nominations over the years.
