The dog you really got to dread is the one that howls inside your head. It's him whose howling drives men mad and a mind to its undoing.

Hello everyone! After two years of having my debut novel on the market, I will have the opportunity to meet with readers in person at Michigan Comic Con in Detroit from August 16th - 18th. I will be selling signed copies of The Art of Falling in the Artist Alley at my own personal booth, in addition to on-site commissions, original and fan art prints, and buttons; all of which can be seen in my Youmacon 2019 Portfolio in my gallery, as I hope I will be able to have the opportunity to sell my novel at Youmacon as well.

After five years of writing, editing, and drawing lots of art, my novel, The Art of Falling, has been published! I went through a small published named Dragon Moon Press, who have been very supportive during this process. Over the last year, they've polished my work, developed a beautiful cover, and helped me achieve my dream of being a published author.

If you would like to support me and my novel, you can order a copy on Amazon. It's available for both paperback and Kindle. If you do purchase a copy, please leave a review after you're done! Let me know what you think. I would greatly appreciate the feedback while I work on the sequel.

Regal is a young incubus who has recently earned the title of Prince of Lust from Jackal, the King of Hell and his father. Keir is one of Gloria’s archangels in training, who specializes in the Virtue of Kindness under the guidance of Michaelangelo. These two powerful forces collide when a battle over a human’s life goes awry.

Keir finds himself head over heels in love with the demon, and Regal is given the rare opportunity to seize the angel as a personal servant. Regal jumps at the chance to become the first demon in history to covet an angel, but Keir is much smarter than Regal anticipates, and the two end up tethering their souls together in an unbreakable bond.

Keir is more than happy to have the bond between them, but Regal wants out of the deal. The only way to do that is to make the angel fall from Grace and become a demon. But can Regal succeed in his plans before Keir makes him ascend into Heaven and become one of Gloria’s Children?

UPDATE: Big news! My friend :iconkaidendunn: and I have been accepted to be in the Artist Alley at Shuto Con 2017!

You may remember Kaiden as the fantastic Mad Hatter that assisted me with my table last year. This year, he will be selling his own art as well!

Our booth is Cojo & Dunn, and we're super excited to be working together this year! You can view the items we're going to sell in our Artist Alley Portfolio here!

I'm still taking some ideas for new prints to sell. Please feel free to leave a comment below with your suggestion!

Though it's only been two months since Shuto Con 2016, I have to start planning ahead for Shuto Con 2017! That means, I'm going to need some new content to sell if I get accepted in July. However, I'm not sure what to draw. What's popular, what do people want?

That's where I'd like to hear from you! Regardless of whether or not you're going to Shuto Con next year, please leave a brief comment with a subject for artwork you would like to see at a convention. I'm open to any and all suggestions!

For ideas of what I already plan on selling, visit my album titled "Convention Prints."

What an adventure! Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table in the artist alley and supported my work by commissioning me, buying my fanart AND original prints, and taking my business cards! I was also very humbled at how many people were interested in my novel. I was able to pass out a lot of cards with the link online. I was able to not only break even, but actually make a profit thanks to all of your kindness. It means the world to me that people liked my art style, especially since I’ve never truly felt happy with it. This convention proved that I finally found my style, one that I’m comfortable and consistent with.

I'll be posting all of my commissions into a folder soon called Shuto Con 2016 Commissions so you can check out what I did! :)

Now that my thank yous are out of the way, here’s the brief run down of what happened during my stay:

THURSDAY:

  • My car broke down on the way to Lansing.
  • Julie told stupid “invention” ideas to us: a carpet that you can lift up and wash if there was a stain - it’s called a rug; Steam for music! - iTunes. It even made the very silent and stoic tow guy chuckle a little.
  • Learned my car’s engine had “catastrophic failures.” Instead of trying to fix my car (minimum of $3,000) my parents signed me into a new lease.
  • Oh, it also had a flat tire.
  • Was very late to set up my booth. Only got about half-way done.
  • The hotel was WONDERFUL. Just like it was last year. We were very happy. Continental breakfast yesssss....
  • My anxiety was also SUPER HIGH.
  • Kaiden was also developing a cold. :(
image

FRIDAY:

  • Finished up my booth, after waiting for everyone to finish getting ready. (Not going to lie, I was getting super annoyed that it took an extra hour for everyone to finish up when I SERIOUSLY was on a time schedule)
  • Was immediately surprised at how many commissions I got on the first day! Five seemed like a lot! And people bought my prints! WOW!
  • Didn’t get to leave the booth often except to stretch and go to the bathroom. Eddie and Kaiden made sure to bring me food while I worked.
  • Speaking of Kaiden, he was a HUGE life saver when it came to interacting with people! I couldn’t look up often from drawing, so he was there to say hello and draw people in while I worked. Plus his awesome Mad Hatter cosplay was on point.
  • Went to the Improv, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Todd Haberkorn 18+ panel.
image

SATURDAY:

  • Still didn’t have my car. Parents came up later that day to clean out my dead car and drop off the new one
  • Ran late to the dealer’s room AGAIN because the shuttle to the con was late. Thankfully, Eddie borrowed Rainier’s car and dropped us off.
  • If I thought Friday was busy, I WAS WRONG. I never got up from my seat on Saturday. Not even to eat or pee. I was drawing non-stop for 8 hours. I’m lucky my hand didn’t cramp up. I tripled my profits, and had so many commissions I actually had to wait until Sunday to finish them! Dozens of people complimented me on my art, which meant just as much as someone buying something from my booth. It was really awesome.
  • Went to the Tokyo Ghoul panel after eating something (I was STARVING)
  • I would have gone to more panels, but I was exhausted from so little sleep and I had 11 COMMISSIONS TO FINISH FOR SUNDAY.
  • Stayed up late drawing as much as I could.
image

SUNDAY:

  • Now that I had my new car (which is so nice) we were able to pack up and get to the con.
  • Again, I was drawing non-stop, and eventually had to shut down my commissions because I couldn’t keep up. I was able to finish everything with a half hour to spare before closing.
  • I was finally able to walk around the alley, see friends, buy some pins and a book, and relax.
  • The ride home was nice. The car was so smooth, it was actually putting my to sleep. Eddie eventually switched with me and drove us the rest of the way home while I slept in the car.
image

So that’s my adventure at Shuto Con 2016! It was a lot of fun (despite all of the stress that happened) and I can’t wait to do it again next year!
