Call me DaniBeez, or Dani. I'm a molecular ecologist and avid cyclist, but I also do art on the side for self-expression.
My works use other animals as a vector to explore cultural, social, and biological concepts. I'm inspired by what distinguishes our species from other living things.
As a scientist and an artist, I face a unique crossroads with respect to humanizing other species. As a scientist, I acknowledge both its potential as a fallacy to harm, but also our innate predisposition to do so. As an artist, I believe that anthropomorphism can be a powerful tool in conveying concepts that are relevant to understanding human nature. It is the contrast between these perspectives that drives me.
I practice mainly traditional methods (with India ink markers being my emerging specialty), but also utilize digital coloring techniques. I occasionally write original fiction.

Thanks much Orphydian! I hope to do more like this as well. Birds are challenging but rewarding and so great for interesting composition opportunities.
