The Complete Lunar Cycle by ~Dan0128. The suggestor said: "This is so awesome. All phases of the moons all in one awesome GIF animation."
This can be an amazing source of reference for animators! It would normally seem that the moon does not rotate when in reality, the moon actually seems to roll from side to side, even though we only ever see one side of the moon.
A seemingly simple GIF, but when you take into account the fact that it took a month to make this short, but incredibly useful reference, you just have to appreciate Dan0128's dedication!

Please feel free to ask me any questions about how I made this or any other GIF and I will gladly share with you, in detail, the steps that I take to make these. Remember, I cannot sell my GIFs! I make them purely for fans and to be creative! I have made over 125 GIFs to date of everything from the Moon, to sunsets/sunrises, thunderstorms, and more! My longest GIF project to date. One shoot of the Moon just about every single night for a month (February 2009 to March 2009) for the whole cycle. Getting up at all hours of the night for the Waning portion was probably the biggest challenge among avoiding cloudy nights. With a better camera now, I may redo this someday soon!
