From the corpse of pulp: Avery

JD Smith ( ) is one of my all-time favorite artists under twenty five -- and I'm not just saying that because I know he'll be reading this. We've worked together several times before, like when he drew the Fowl short story "THE HALF-GHOST", which (by the bye) ties into today's brand-new Fowl page over on Cranky Octopus [link] . He's been a total dream to collaborate with, every time.

But now, we're on to something much bigger. By bigger, I mean bolder, nastier, cleverer, and just plain damn better. I get jittery just thinking about it. It's crazy, working with him on this. I never could have come up with it on my own -- neither could he, mind you. It's a collaboration from the ground up, the sum of our present abilities. Synergy, sinners, like you read about.

This page here? This is nothing. A test run. A lab experiment. This is the barest fraction of what we're working on, reflected in a rear-view mirror across the street on a foggy day. It's been cooking for months on end, and it'll keep cooking for months to come. So stay tuned, friends and neighbors. This ain't hype. This is history in the making.
