My name is David. My user name is my initials forwards and backwards join by an n. My younger brother used it as a tease but I just accepted it and then I used it as my non de plume in arcade games and now online. Six60 is a favourite Kiwi band.
I'm married to a wonderful woman and our children are now all adults. I'm type two diabetic and because of this I now suffer from depression at times. My art helps me positively. I mostly work in Daz Studio and use Affinity Photo for most of my post work. We are our own worst critic and can find fault in what is to others a great image. I guess what I strive for is that one perfect image.
I also might be just a bit one eyed about what team I support.

My List of what I consider essential for Daz renders.
I started this list for a project so both me and the client had common assets. It’s about what I consider essential assets. Leave a comment about any you think I’ve missed or any that shouldn’t be on the list. I haven’t listed any environments because they’re about what you personally find interesting.

Retexturing gives different looks. The more shader sets you have the more options. 4K Fabric Shader above is my most used to change a look. But I also use Mec4d Volume 2 below for retexturing all objects from clothes to bricks. I also use volume 1 especially for metals.

AI used for deep fakes.
I’m against the use of AI to create nudes with an actress’s face. It’s not the same as her choosing to pose nude. She has no control or say in what is being created. AI often steals from other artists IP to create images but creating deep fakes is another level of offensiveness. It is a rape of her personal image. An artist who may never have posed nude is suddenly posted on the web without any say in the artistic merit of the so-called image creator.
There are too many examples of this on DA. It should require the subject’s consent to be posted.

Genesis 9?
Genesis 9 is nice but…
I use Victoria 9 for about a week before I went back to 8 and 8.1 figures. I looked at the first two figures my favourite content creators made for Genesis 9 and neither leapt out to me and screamed purchase me please. If Mousso and Emrys can’t create something stunning with Gen 9 then what is the issue. The ability to create great skin is an improvement and the mouth is a big improvement, the eyes just a slight improvement.
But before we need Genesis 9, Daz really needs to fix what’s wrong with Daz Studio first. 4.21 is buggy and crashes far too often. Spectral rendering is an issue with the colourspace being incorrect for all spectral settings except rec709. They all have a red tinge (this isn’t a 4.21 issue; it’s been this way since 4.16, my belief is that this is a Iray issue not a Daz issue). I’d prefer to use ACEScg as this is an industry standard, but Iray’s implementation is just wrong. I can do colour correction in post work, but I
