Made this because I feel it's one of the biggest steps that a lot of artists seem to miss. Hopefully it's of use to someone!

Obviously if you have other questions that aren't answered in this tutorial, just let me know :)

D'oh, thanks for the DD guys :D

I wonder how gradient works in multiple light souces or very luminous set. Can you suggest some atworks as exampels for differents in gradient workings in well lit or dark environment?

It's so obvious it makes me wonder how/why I never thought about this, as I've always struggled with understanding the impact of light on artwork. Thank you so much for sharing this

I knew that gradients were useful because I saw them being used in a speed paint I was watching, but I never figured out how to properly use them in my art. This really cleared things up for me!

This is such an important subject! I didn't really know anything about rendering, values, edge control etc until my design class in animation school started. Wow, did that drive it home. We were drilled on "organize your values, keep the gradients moving you around the picture, stack your values within the gradients". Rinse and repeat.

I'm still a long shot from having mastered these skills, but tutorials like these are really good refreshers and clarify so many questions that come up later. Thanks a lot for this, it's a great learning tool! Certainly deserved its DD.

Fantastic! I'm constantly wondering how to make this sort of "work." Then I always end up reverting back to flat shading. Thank you for this. :)
