Well, you can edit and distribute editable MMD models, but modelers usually set additional conditions for editing and/or redistributing (and of course, trading) their models.

DO NOT EDIT AND/OR REDISTRIBUTE (and trade) MODELS UNLESS YOU HAVE THE FULL COMMAND OF JAPANESE TO READ THE ATTACHED TOS.
Full command means you can read Japanese newspapers or academic papers. Basic conversation skill is not enough. You should also refrain from distributing your translation unless you have the full command of Japanese. If you spread a grave mistranslation, you would be involved in a copyright trouble.

In addition machine translators are not reliable. Japanese language has tons of homophones, conjugations and particles. A slightest misreading leads to the total nullifying a sentence.
Here is an example.

"Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."

↓ Googled

"偉大さを恐れていないこと:いくつかは素晴らしい生まれて、いくつかの偉大さを達成し、一部は彼らの上に偉大さの推力を持っています。"
Translation: "The fact that you are not afraid of greatness (broken grammar): some things (not "people" but "things") are great, born, (broken grammar), and achieve some great stuff, and some things have great propeller power upon them (broken grammar)."

I understand your intent, but there are two important things that needs to be acknowledged:
1. Machine translators are not that unreliable. Frankly they are not the finest translators either, but if you translate the text in small parts, and not everything at ones, they are comprehensable. I would rather recommend them for personal use, than translating documets for publishing them (which I assume is what you are reffering to here) thought.

2. "If you spread a grave mistranslation, you would be involved in a copyright trouble."
That information is innacurate. You can get called out on spreading a bad translation, but as far as I know copyright laws have next to nothing to do with translation errors. The only thing you can held responsible for is a bad translation, and that is either incompetence or laziness, but deffinietly not breach of copyright.

Again, I understand your intend, but rather than expecting every person who uses MMD speaking Japanese on an Academic Level, the solution would be is to help them understand these Terms of Use. (Which is basically what you and the rest of the wiki staff been doing on MMD wiki for quite some time. Which I really apreciate by the way:) )
Please take no offence, this is simply my opinion. I don't wish to attack you (I heard there were quite a few people who did that), just wanted to share my thoughts with you.

OH CRAP.

Well, I have a problem here.
My friend kept making illegal edits with the windows 100% seeU model. I told her it's really illegal so she can stop. But she never stopped and she kept asking me those nanami passwords. She wont stop doing these stuff. I dunno the website of the model creator. Please note me so i can tell them.

Thank you!

You're allowed to edit her, as long as she's still recognizable as SeeU; for example, if your friend took SeeU's skirt and put it on a Miku model, then it'd be illegal, but if she just recolored the skirt and kept it on the model so you still know it's SeeU then, it's fine.

OHNO :nuu: I used the base that was around here and they said it was editable and and I used it for my selfy, so would I have to delete my selfy? This is the base I used [link]
In the description, it says "the read-me say clrearly
"data has to be modified for re-distribution"
so it mean you can edit the TDA model but you can only redistribute the edits you made"
So would I have to delete the model?

You won't have to delete the model. In the English readme it says that TDA Miku is allowed to be edited and distributed as long as the edits are recognized as a TDA style model, and you can't use TDA parts on non-TDA style models (For example, you can't remove TDA Miku's hair and put it on a LAT base). As long as your selfie follows these rules, your model is completely legal.

Machine translations are adequate for casual conversations and complementary comments where you know a misplaced or misspoken word won't make a difference. Legal terminology is a language unto itself, where even the best human translators sit in a group of several over the course of a few days to get it just right. My knowledge of Japanese is limited to maybe five words, and I have no intention of learning it just so I could have the chance to play with a computer model. Way too risky.

I didn't mean to scare you. Yet beginners and machines often make grave mistranslations that turns sentences upside down.

"There were few inhabitants who escaped from the disaster." and "There were few inhabitants, who escaped from the disaster" have only one slight difference. One comma. But the sentences are totally different one another.

Cases are much more serious in Japanese. Complicated conjugations, particles, etc.

An editable model does not mean you always have to help or encourage people to edit the model.

The best way is each fan develops the skill to create his/her own model from scratch with his/her own art.

Oh no, I understand that xD I try creating parts myself, but if a model may need a little touch, which a certain model has, do you know anybody to help translate to see if the model is usable? ^^

Thanks for the help
