A set of plaques depicting the life conditions of the Jewish citizens all around Europe, including Venice and its Ghetto, during the Nazi occupation and subsequent deportation. They hang on a wall in Calle del Ghetto Novo.
Thank you posting this, and the individual images of the plaques. They are very moving and are very powerful.
it makes no sense that things like that would happen in this world...for years after years every corner of the world? it is stupid that it would happen.
Unfortunately such things keep happening somehow. Right before the Shabbath and subsequent commemoration of the World War Two events begun, someone sent boxes with pig heads inside to a synagogue, the Remembrance Museum and the Israeli embassy in Rome. It was not some random prick, it was deliberate and carefully planned. Italian morality has never sunk so low and I really feel ashamed and disgusted, even though I am not religious in any way and not even a Jew myself. There is no respect neither for the dead then, nor for the living today, and that's unacceptable.
(Sorry it took so long to reply, I had to ask my son whose English is better than my own).
just doesn't make any sense?
