I've been having a lot of fun with them! I'm using French Grey art markers - 10% through 90% so I can get lots of tones to blend.
Mike DeCarlo did re-ink a recreation of this in 2008, the original in FF #27 doesn't have the nudity. This is a slightly modified (thicker blast lines on the left & top) version requested by a client.
Oh hey, man! You're still on my list, I promise! I have a lot to get through...
I nearly gave up a couple of times, I started out on the hands and the table portions in front, and got really dejected until I started working on the hair/face and the feathering with the markers started coming out more naturally.
I used a high-res scan of the AE that I found on Heritage Auctions' site (a great resource for high res scans of comics and books I'll never be able to own!) - then printed the art out on my laserprinter to size to use as a reference - for the more subtle tone shifts I had to keep looking back at my computer monitor.
