Weekly feature LXIII
Here are some of the best pictures submitted to :iconBreathtaking-photos: this week and in the past days
Enjoy
Note: nobody know why the size of the thumbs is messed up lately... Pictures get either full-size or 300 pixels wide, and this is the best I can do at the moment   I apologize for the problem!

Finally catching up on deviations/I like Woodlice
Wow, I haven't actually checked any deviations of people I'm watching since MAY! o.O
It all kinda just stacked up and I was like "no way am I looking through a box of 1000 picatures today" "oh shit now its 2000..." ^^;
Currently its 6000... this is the point where I kinda can't ignore anymore.
And I feel like such a jerk not immediately checking out all my friends' stuff when they always pop up to see my pictures within like five seconds of them being posted!
I should probably unwatch some people so my deviations are manageable again. (Like.. unwatch some big name people or groups and stuff, never unwatching a friend!)
Also I should really try and rejoin/renew my join in a group or something... i forgot I was even in groups XD Dunno whether I should go for EA-LEC or Xros Hunters World though?
EA-LEC = a free choice fantasy thing where I could use any character, and the storylines are cool and there's the Weekly Prompt. However there isn't really anything to do EXCEPT that weekly prompt

Leaf Cutter Bee IV
This male Leaf Cutter Bee (Megachile sp) was only in my Lavender for a few days, so I tried to get a lot of different compositions.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (over 3x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the fill for this shot), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. I'm holding on to the Lavender stem with my left hand, and resting the lens on that same hand to keep the scene steady.

Caterpillar Feeding on Mint II
Caterpillars feed by extending their heads and then curling up as they chew. So the trick was to focus right at the edge of the leaf and wait for the critter to bring it's head up to start the next "row". I got seven frames before it figured out I was close and stopped feeding.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (over 3x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. I'm holding on to the stem of the plant with my left hand, and resting the lens on that same hand to keep the scene steady.

Snoozing European Wool Carder Bee IV
The way that these European Wool Carder Bees sleep in my Lavender is almost comical.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (around 3x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. I'm holding on to the stem of the Lavender with my left hand, and resting the lens on that same hand to keep the scene steady.

Feeding Sawfly II
Sometimes when I'm shooting a lethargic subject it will wake up and start going about it's normal routine. That's what happened while photographing this Saw Fly. The tricky part is tracking a moving subject when the frame at 4x is only 5.7mm wide by 3.7mm high.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (around 4x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, +1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.

European Wool Carder Bee
An early morning shot of a European Wool Carder Bee. Normally I don't see many insects with dew on them, but that morning it was very damp. This one was semi-active and when it would pause I'd look for a new composition.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (about 3.5x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. I'm holding on to the stem of the flower with my left hand, and resting the lens on that same hand to keep the scene steady.
