Check out Version 3, it contains a brand new reimagined Ribbon design! The Ribbon is completely replaced with a touch and click-friendly, slimmer design! dakirby309.deviantart.com/art/…

Most comments on V1 were regarding how the monochromatic icons on the Navigation Pane, and Tab previews are a bit unnecessary... so because of this, I ailed the problem with a V2. :)

Here is my idea for how Windows 10 should look and function like! The File Explorer needs A LOT of tweaking in my opinion. The Explorer could be so much more if MS would let it.

I especially think they need to work on TABS and they should have a greatly enhanced Navigation Pane, the one that's currently implemented is years old and has hardly changed. It has a lot of room for improvement. When comparing Windows' Nav. Pane to Mac OS X, Apple's is quite superior in functionality and customization. The current one in Windows is so limiting and basic.

Some features such as RAM/CPU usage, tab previews, and updates bubbles would OF COURSE be an optional feature.

Feel free to tell me what you think. :)

All elements in this concept are designed by me (but many icons are based off of pre-existing icons owned by MS and other companies)

Wow. It's amazing how much a simple little change or two makes towards cohesion. This is awesome, I'd use it in a heartbeat if it was a skin or an update. Just the simplicity of it, mixed with the usefulness of the seemingly at first unneeded features that I've never thought of... Yes, Kirby. Yes. Gimme now. XD

Haha thanks, glad the changes please you. ;)

I really wish MS would incorporate some of these ideas, the Explorer needs an overhaul.

This looks pretty nice ! I think some icons look a bit oversized though (tab close icon and the quick access bar icons). Also, what's the icon next to the quick access sidebar icon ?

Well my icon sizing guide was Windows default sizing, all icons are precise sizes and lined up in a grid I layed out, i.e. 32x32, 96x96, and most of the rest of the icons (including quick access icons) are 16x16 as they are by default on Windows. Although my quick access do seem a little large... but that's probably because they're out in the open whereas on Windows 8 they're in the top left corner, so they just seem larger.

The icon next to the quick access bar icon... the down arrow to the far right is to expand the ribbon, and the one directly left to that is the Customize Quick Access Toolbar icon. :)

And the tabs close button, well I was following the same size as they are on Project Spartan (approximately 12x12px) so my goal was consistency. But I do agree that the sizing for the close tab button (on Spartan) is a bit large. :P

The quick access icon are large because of the spacing around them. :)

Oh, I meant in the sidebar, but I'm guessing that's expand/collapse quick access folders (the icon isn't very obvious though).
