Her back still hums with residual energy from the last run—another data vault breached, another layer of the corporate machine peeled back. But it’s not the mission that weighs on her tonight.

It’s the memory fragment she recovered. A corrupted echo of someone who once called her by name, before the enhancements, before the wipe.

She doesn’t remember the face—only the warmth of a voice and a place that didn’t flicker like dying neon. She watches the pulse of the skyline below, data flowing like blood beneath glass and steel, wondering if she’s just another echo in the system or something more.

She came up here to breathe. To feel something close to real.

The city doesn’t sleep. But sometimes, even ghosts need a view.
