Shakedown by Daihak Shakedown by Daihak
I couldn't get the lighting right, but I think the overall image is good.

U.S.S. Resurrection model by Armando Perez (Centurus/Daihak)
Background by NASA.

 the lower saucer hull certainly looks far better, not to mention volumetrically more substantial than the old and rather space wasting one of the original Conny 2. Its way overdue that someone thickened up the interconnecting dorsal, before it was little more than access tubes and ladderways, being only 4.5m thick at its thickest.

My reasoning for the thickening of the neck was to help support the additional mass of the new saucer section. You're right, it always did look a little too thin.

An interesting fan-made way of bridging between late 23rd century and 24th century, when considering starship tech evolution in the "Star Trek" universe.

Like it.
But not the model.
The main sensor dish and the too thick "neck" don't agree with me. And there's something with the saucer I can't pinpoint...

Really nice image.

As for the lighting; It's not 'right', because it doesn't match the background. If you reduce the lighting around the starbord bow area and increase the lighting around the stern, then it'll work much better, because based on the planet the light is coming from astern (viewed from the ship).

The way the model is lit you have a soft light source all over port and then another shiny light on the starbord port section. Doesn't make sense.

I have taken the liberty and illustrated what I mean via Photoshop. Only a very quick 'sketch out' and by no means perfect, but I hope you don't mind: [link]

I didn't mean to nitpick too much, but I figure it helps more than just saying "awesome". At least I prefer that.

No worries. I will try and redo the lighting again soon.

I know it's the most difficult part. Lighting is usually the longest part I spend on any pictures. Sometimes with as many as 10-20 light sources and even then I change more in post work. Nature, eh? Just making it difficult for us artists.
