This was another of those few instances where I first made a value study before adding in colour. It's still not my favourite method of painting, but I can see the appeal in dealing with value versus colour separately. A major problem is that Gimp doesn't handle value/chroma models very well, but from what I understand, the next version will feature improved colour management. Perhaps then I'll be able to use this technique more effectively.
Also, I decided to be generous and make the downloadable image fit 4k monitors natively. So enjoy the high resolution if you're lucky to have one of those.

I particularly like the view of the stairs which lead up to that vantage point.
Oh.. also I really like the way the hair goes around her head. As well as the figure of her arms and legs.
Also.. yay Trixie!
I just read the 2 part official comic with her and the jewel thief. It made me love her a bit more than I already did, which I didn't think was possible.
<3 Trixie Lulamoon.
It looks like the pony magician has just had an epiphany as the sunburst suddenly casts the great city in a spiritual glow. Lovely work on Trixie, especially that wowed expression even from this angle. I can almost hear the stillness (or not hear it) in her very slow breathing. (The real "breathtaking.") Also terrific work on the landscape, a whole wider world ahead for her to choose from and it seems like the decision of where to go next has been made for her.
The theme is as beautiful as the scene. Thanks.
Superb job! It's quite an amazing piece.
P.S.: Since I watched your stream I've enjoyed a lot listening to Exivious, they're quite something!
