Mom's Counseling Logo

As the title implies, this is a logo I designed for my mother's counseling agency. She needed one to stick on a brochure ASAP so this is what I came up with. She sent me a series of other agencies logos as reference. She wanted something abstract but simple and understandable... The only part I'm concerned with is whether or not one could see the red part and know what it is they're looking at... if you can figure it out, I'll have done my job well...
