Galliot muzzle brake

A (French) WW2 design to eliminate recoil from muzzles of large calibre weapons. It was almost impossible to make and didn't work when it was.

I think it's a rather beautiful sculpture.

Thank-you very much. Of course, I just took the picture, Mr. Galliot designed the actual piece - more effective as a piece of art than as a weapon enhancement it would seem.

A muzzle brake? Looks more like something a machinist would use to sculpt a block of steel.

Well, it certainly wouldn't fall over - it weighs about 30kg!
