And what would YOU do if a bright ol' 22° ice halo was staring YOU in the face!?

I dunno about you, but I'm taking pictures of it!

So I spent a week in Brownsville, TX, and all that, and yesterday was our day of departure back to Abilene, a 9-hour drive. Before we left, we met some family at Shoney's for a farewell brunch.

As we started to make our way outside to say goodbyes, I looked up in the sky, and there was the brightest, fullest, most vibrant common ice halo I had EVER seen. It was hot and humid (as Brownsville always is), yet I got to see a super-bright ICE halo! You CAN see these throughout the year! XD

I also have a picture on my phone that leads me to believe that there was a circumscribed halo accompanying such a bright circle. I can't confirm it, but that's what it LOOKED like.

As we stopped at a gas station on the way out to get drinks for the road, we were ALSO blessed with a circumhorizon arc, but it was too faint and there were too many obstacles to get a perfect shot.

By the time we left the city limits for Sarita, both rainbow splendors had long faded...

We were blessed to witness such a phenomenon. ...Okay, so this halo is pretty common, but two years of halo hunting pass, and this is the brightest I've seen by far. Pretty special! :3
