What is DID/MPD
Dissociative identity disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a condition in which a person displays multiple distinct identities or personalities (known as alter egos or alters), each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment. In the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems the name for this diagnosis is multiple personality disorder. In both systems of terminology, the diagnosis requires that at least two personalities routinely take control of the individual's behavior with an associated memory loss that goes beyond normal forgetfulness; in addition, symptoms cannot be the temporary effects of drug use or a general medical condition.
Symptoms and signs include lapses in memory, feeling unreal, blackouts in time, hearing voices in their head that are not their own, not recognizing themselves in the mirror, and finding items in one's possession but not recalling how they were acquired. Treatment usually involves psychotherapy, medications, and sometimes hypnosis.

About the Group
I made this group for both people with DID/MPD and for people who are close to someone with it. This should be a place to support others and share your own experiences of DID with the group. I hope to have regular blogs about different topics for people to interact with each other and share how things work for them. This place should be safe for people to come to, I do not want people trolling the group like I've seen happen before, this is for genuine people only! I assure you that people living with DID/MPD do not need any further abuse, we have all had enough of that already, so please respect us and do not try to cause trouble.
Okay so I've had to come up with a way to try to filter join requests so that there are only genuine people joining this group and that will unfortunately be difficult but I am going to try my very best to do this!
If you have DID/MPD:
I want you to tell me in your request a little about yourselves, names, ages, races, maybe a little personality info would be fab too.
you do not need an official diagnosis of DID, as long as you know what you have then it's fine by us.
If you're close with someone with DID/MPD:
I'd like you tell me what you can about that person, and their alters if you know much about them, and your relationship to them.
I know it doesn't seem like much, but hopefully that will be enough, at least for now, to filter who comes in the group and who doesn't.
