Spectraloosa (semi-open breed info),,,,, Thanks for checking out my spooky semi-open breed! This breed was inspired by the pokemon Spectrier and also a bunch of horsie traits that I just like.Registering and Leveling There's no official registry. Although I do keep a collection going in my favs (and this gallery), your horse is automatically an official member of the breed if it was obtained legitimately and follows these rules. If you want, you may tag me on your horse's ref and I will add it to my collection. Please also link to this info in your ref. There's no official level system at this time, but you're free to self impose any system that seems fun to you.Importing Natural horses are free to all. Make as many as you want! They must have "LpLp" or "Lplp" and cannot have any other major white markings. Coat colors can be realistic or unrealistic, but patterns should still be natural (patterns based on other hooved animals, like zebras, are also okay). Mutation horses can only be obtained through adopts, breeding, or giveaways, and will be monitored a little more closely by me. Mutation MYOs will never be sold for USD or points, but you can get your own mutation horse by ordering a custom design from me (price will be $20-$40 depending on art and if you want base or baseless). I'll give away MYO slots occasionally in raffles and events depending on demand. Breeding Breeding slots are unlimited, but a horse may only breed once per month (this cooldown may be waived if the foal or both slots are gifts), so please mark the date next to slots when they are used. The foal will be treated like a MYO slot, but with traits limited to a combo of the parents. Realistic genetic behavior regarding coat color is optional, but the foal may only have mutations if it's a mutation one of its parents or grandparents has. If you roll a foal with "lplp," (lacking the appaloosa markings) it's considered a "non-patterned" or "solid" spectraloosa, since it can still be used to foal purebred spectraloosas. No approval is needed, we go on the honor system here. If you're found skirting around the rules, your horses will be voided from the breed, and you may be banned from participating or buying adopts. If you want to feel official about it, there's a featured comment here where you can post parents and I'll roll a foal phenotype for you.Cross-Breeding Go crazy (if the other breed allows). If the resulting foal still has floaty hooves and leopard complex, you can call it a "spectraloosa cross" and still consider it part of the breed.Adopts You are free to make and sell your own adopts, but please send your batches to me for approval before posting them. There are a few rules you must followYou can waive the breeding cooldown if you wish to produce lineaged adoptsNo more than half of a batch may be mutation horses. (more is allowed for lineaged adopts)Mutation horses may have no more than two mutations each. (more is allowed for lineaged adopts)You may keep one design for yourself if your batch has six horses or more. You may keep a mutation horse or a natural horse. Some mutations may be added in the future that can only be used by certain guest designers, so please do not use these in your adopts if you are not that artist. You also may not use horses with these traits for lineaged adopts. If you invent a new mutation and would like it to be restricted to only certain designers, please get in touch. Be aware these locked mutations may still appear from breedings.FAQQ: Will you ever make a group or close this breed?A: Probably not, unless someone wants to join as co-owner. I don't have the time to run something like that. Semi-open species are more fun to me anyway. (also i dont have Core so I ran outta group slots)Q: Will you ever make an official registry?A: Not if I have to maintain it myself. Tried doing a masterlist with a different species once and my executive dysfunction just couldn't handle it.Q: Should I be designing on any official lines?A: Nope! Use whatever lines/bases you're comfortable with. Q: What other markings are allowed/not allowed?A: It cannot have tobiano, overo, sabino, or splash markings. It can have socks and stars/blazes, but cannot have stockings that reach the shoulder or white that covers most of the head (as these are usually caused by splash or sabino and are not associated with appaloosa markings). Horses with pure spectraloosas in their line that have leopard complex but also other white markings are considered spectraloosa "crosses"Miscellaneous markings like like birdcatcher spots or brindle are a-okay. Q: What's the deal with spectraloosas that don't have appaloosa markings?A: These can result from breeding "Lplp" parents together and losing the dominant appaloosa gene. If you roll a foal with "lplp" its considered a "non-patterned" or "solid" spectraloosa and can still be used to foal purebred spectraloosas.Q: If spectraloosas are invisible to some people, what if I want to enter it into shows?A: Spectraloosas can also choose to make themselves visible to all mortals whenever they want.Q: What do spectraloosas eat?A: The souls of the dead... Or maybe shaderoot carrots. Or maybe they just eat regular grass. Or maybe nothing at all.Q: How should I notate genos on my ref? (note that doing so is not required)A: Use whatever system you're comfortable with. Personally, I start with realistic genetics, then add mutations at the end with the full word or a few letters from the word. For unrealistic coat colors, I pick the closest IRL coat color and then add some notes about which other colors are involved. More info here
