CHECK OUT THE COMPLETE ICONOSTASIS: d1sarmon1a.deviantart.com/gall…
I finally finished my biggest project so far. That's pretty much it.
I'm really happy with the result and I'm going to create a lot of new stuff based on the WH40k universe.
Thank you for all the love to my ICONOSTASIS project, it helps me to work harder! <3
Sooooooooo.... Does anyone know what happened to the other loyalist primarchs aside from Manus, Guilliman, Lion, Sanguinius, and Russ?
It seems like Dorn, Corax, and Khan just vanish in smoke.
Maybe I'm being a bit biased since I'm a huge fan of the 40K universe. However, I can only rate all with 5 stars. Because I believe it deserves it all. More were available, I would vote every last one with 5 stars <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>. Thank you for this <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>.
I have nothing else to add. Technically I love the light. Icons indeed but "live" ones. Choosing B&G was a great option because it shows the real spirit of Warhammer. Very Gothic. Very Grim. Bright without golden. Majestic. Keep up the good work. Bring us moar!!! I like the Emperor aquilla detail with both having eyes <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/> (like the aquilla of Malcador)
What strikes me the most here, is the composition and the respect of the original descriptions.
First the composition, with the right and left (of the Emperor) symbolism, as well as up (aquila) and down (eye of Horus), the symetric pairing of the primarchs as antagonists etc...
It really comes up as a "cosmic" and symbolic vision, yet grim, stern, dark, as it should be with Warhammer 30k and 40k.
Then the respect of the decriptions : I sure enjoy fantasy in the fan arts, but I sometimes wonder how the hell do some artists understand words such as "patrician" "savage" "perfect" "beautiful" (even, and specially, official Games Workshop artists, seriously, when you see Fulgrim's face on every single piece of official art, you wonder where they grabbed their sense of aesthetical perfection from). Here all the descriptions are matched, and the artist didn't fall for the opposite trap : seing only the specificities of the characters, and forgeting that they are all embodyments of the ultimate warrior AND brethren, therefore they should have strong features AND somehow a familiar look.
That's why I call it the best and truest portraits collection of the primarchs and the Emperor so far. (I sure absolutely love other illustrations, because they speak to my own fantasies, but this is absolutely true to the fluff) )
This is awesome. Seeing your primarch pics coming out was really fun and it all ending with this epic was a good way to top off the run. Its the kind of thing one would see in the imperial palace, an epic portrait of the emperor and his sons in the height of their power. Love the aquila and the eye of Horus, showing the supremacy of the emperor and the glory of his favorite son, but also a vision of what is to come. To stay above with the emperor or fall with Horus. Its dark and and glorious. I've seen some cool 40k art but I can honestly say you're art is among my favorite. Great Job. I need to buy a print of this.
This is beautiful. Believe me when I say that I've been following the Iconostasis proyect so far and I say this is the best piece of the whole proyect. To see it finished in such a way is breathtaking, because not only you have made the Primarchs AND the Emperor look as I think they should look, proud, wonderfull and impresive, but you have put them all together on this "frame" that suits them magnificently.
This is definitely my favourite Warhammer 40,000 art piece and I have over 3,000 40K pictures so choosing one is hard.
This is a true Masterpiece, there is nothing else to say other tan thank you so much for making this.
I'm glad that you like the critique, and you can trust that it is not some vainglorious flattery, it is a honest expression of what I think of your work, you have proven to be extremely talented and I will be looking forward to see what you bring next to the table, for I am sure it can be something magnificent.
I can see.....
Magnus vs Russ
Lorgar vs Guilliman
Horus vs Sangy
Fulgrim vs Ferrus
Perturabo vs Dorn
Kurze vs Vulkan
And the other Primarchs who have/had no particular grudges are not in any particular position.
Did anybody catch this tidbit?
I'm not sure where in the lore that Alpharius ever fought Jaghatai. Or Corvus hating Angron particularly. Or Mortarion dueling with Lion'El Jonson and having a grudge.
But regardless, your artwork is amazing. Shame it isn't featured more in official GW art.
