1. He is a coyote. Not the most sociable of individuals, though.
2. He is incredibly calm and stoic with a very polite demeanor, though this actually makes others nervous around him, as it takes quite a bit to get him to show other emotions. His fashion sense (bone themes) doesn’t help. There are brief occasions where cracks appear in this, though.
3. Like Mirage, he’s a low-order Celestial entity.
4. He always keeps his violin on hand should he suddenly feel the desire to make music. He enjoys it most when others enjoy his music.
5. Wouldn’t have bothered with any type of martial arts if it weren’t for Mirage. He mainly uses a style that incorporates his violin, as it’s surprisingly sturdy. He also manages to use his exterior bones for attacks as well.
6. Like Mirage, he also has a more powerful form, though appearance-wise it’s nowhere near as drastic as hers. In fact, a small part of him is envious over how Mirage towers over him when she is in her alternate form.
7. Started hanging out with Mirage after a random meeting with her, at her suggestion. Over time they ended up developing feelings for each other, to the surprise of anyone who knew how Macabre was.
8. Whenever he decides to travel the mortal planes, he sometimes retracts all of his bone extensions. He feels oddly naked like that, though, so he prefers to wear something that hides them. Skull cap is surprisingly easier to move around in, though he does get questioning looks over wearing such a large accessory.
9. His external ribs can be extended and act as extra limbs, though this is something he sees little need for. They can also be made to erupt into spiked segments, which he learned to use as part of his fighting style at Mirage’s suggestion.
10. Despite his demeanor, he is absolutely terrified of spiders. You’ll see his quickest reaction time during moments when he sees one.
11. He has rather saintly patience when it comes to how he handles others. It takes a bit to get him annoyed, a lot to get him angry. That being said, even when enraged, he mainly goes the “tranquil fury” route. You know you reached a dangerous level with him when his voice takes on a sudden venomous tone. Most people are smart enough to back off at that point. One time, however…
12. He knows how to tie a Gordian knot. Just ask Sickle.
BONUS TRIVIA
1. It was a little bit before I settled on his species, something to play off of the fact that Mirage is a hare. Thought wolf, as that’s my favorite animal, but felt played out. Thought fox, but that was REALLY played out after Zootopia (admittedly, I ship Judy and Nick, too), then thought about coyote. Did a quick browse, and found that coyotes are found in some belief systems as being involved in the creation of man, so there was my legendary creature tie-in, and that they’re sometimes associated with death, which helped with the songs that gave me the initial character inspiration. I also just liked the pairing of an upbeat character being in a relationship with a rather “dark” character that wasn’t completely over-the-top.
2. Making his “recolor” concept was interesting, due to the fact that the character I used as a base only had one arm. Had to do a bit of editing to that image to change that.
3. His fear of spiders was an interesting addition. When I was originally coming up with that, I want to say late last year, I thought it’d be nice to give him something that would make him a tad bit more relatable. I was laying in bed writing this little fact (the original images for this are currently only on a private chat, I’ll post them some other time), when I saw a spider climb up the side, not too far from where my mouse is. So that part of his character is directly derived from how I feel about spiders.
4. His initial design only had two ribs on each of his sides, but as you can see, his current one has four. This was because I misinterpreted the sketch that ChaokoCartoons whipped up after I sent him the concept.
